MINI REVIEW: Wow, I loved this movie from the superb animation to the soundtrack to the emotionally gut-wrenching plot...no pun intended. Firstly, that train demon was NOTHING compared to that Upper Rank demon. The power difference is immense. As soon as the Upper Rank demon showed up, it completely changed into extreme intensity that I didn't know was coming but there was so much foreshadowing about Rengoku's fate that I obviously noticed. Throughout the movie, I was really dreading that outcome but at least he died trying his hardest. It's just a shame that we won't get to see more from his character in season 2 onwards...unless we get a flashback maybe. I was really looking forward to seeing all the Hashiras in season two so for the movie to have a death scene, I didn't even predict this would happen even though the Anime is so damn brutal. I should have known better.
That being said, it's still a great movie tragic ending or not. The fact that there is a death sets up the more brutal tone that season 2 will have since I'm sure Tanjiro is going to train himself to become a Hashira so I'm expecting some sort of timeskip but those Upper Rank demons are way too OP like wtf...
I HATED that the Upper Rank demon escaped from the sunrise otherwise it would've been even...But I guess, this will increase Tanjiro's motivation and will to get rid of all demons...
Rengoku was such a strong-minded and dedicated Hashira who was very inspiring too. Will definitely be missed.
