Hi, Josh, Sorry I'm so late to this. Smokey the Bear was one of my favorites, when I was little. I had a Little Golden Book, and within a year or two, there was a stop-animation TV special. These days, I wonder if there are now Forest Service videos about how we should have learned from Native Americans, who practiced prescribed, controlled burning, to keep dead trees and limbs from piling up. I recall a PBS American Experience episode about how devastating fires, around the turn into the 20th century led to a practice of preventing all fires. ... which eventually ... backfired. And how long have we known that the life cycle of some pine trees depends heavily on fire?
