That'd be about $585 in 2021 dollars - damn right there better be some frickin' dolphins for that kinda scratch! Kinda scratching my head that this "radium detector" isn't just a Geiger counter. Maybe they thought the audience wouldn't know the term (or didn't know it themselves)? It's more of a "has been claimed to be fatal to people in the past" flood...
