There's some straight-up cruelty to animals in this short. It's nothing too intense, about at the level of the "Catching Trouble" short on the old MST3K. There's still fun to be had with this short, but I wanted to give the more sensitive among us a heads-up.

I agree. Josh, you didn't let this short get away with anything. And you changed the embarrassing "lessons" into ones that will better pass the test of time.

Animal Cunning, like Catching Trouble, has a valuable role in showing what was passable in the past, as well as unsavory filming practices, like the staged animal fights. On top of that, you provide a healthy narrative/riffing/mockery that helps keep us from being depressed by this 'educational' film from the 1930's.

2019-05-07 13:53:07 +0000 UTCI was going to express an ardent hope those were unfiltered cigarettes (even so, WHAT THE HELL), but I didn't know until I looked it up that cigarette filters are made from cellulose, which a deer, being a ruminant, could actually digest, unlike when they're eaten by birds. Still though. WHAT. THE. HELL. Not sure what the heck is cunning about most any of this behavior.
