It sounds like this has one or two gimmicks too many to work. Perhaps if they chose one gimmick and stuck with it instead of just throwing them all into one, or if they recognized the movie was being limited earlier maybe they could have done something. I hear about this and I think back to the couple of movies I worked on during my four brief on-again-off-again years as a film/TV PA. I think I worked on very interesting projects but at no point would I term them high art, but each episode or movie had something effective about it. They all knew when to give up their gimmicks for the sake of the show, though, so...
