It's been about a year since I started the youtube channel Octodemy.
So I think its about time I started to take things more seriously.
Youtube watch hours are still a long way to allow ads to earn anything. And even then, it would not be much. So any support here is worth very much and I'd really appreciate it.
(the same applies for ko-fi)
I started this channel by posting devlogs to force me to learn and make a game. And posted some tutorial videos about things I've learned in the way that I struggled with.
I few months in, stopped with the devlogs.
I didn't have any real planning for the game besides it "being a platformer game to learn how to make a game".
I still learned a lot from it, but I just didn't have enough made within two weeks to post anything worthwhile. Art-wise, it would take ages to make something that I hated.
But it was fun while it lasted, and devlogs have a more more active comment section. Which I miss very much.
I then realized that tutorial videos had a future when an old video that didn't perform well started to pick up views and comments, slowly but consistently, and decided to focus on making more tutorials.
A made a few unity and blender videos. And then switched to Godot.
I had already tried Godot, but in Godot 3 it was just not ready for any real 3D yet.
When the unity thing happen, I went for Godot again and was happily surprised how it progressed.
So I'm focusing on Godot 3D content for now. But I still plan on doing some blender or small prototype games projects in the future.
For now, I've posted the project files I used on previous tutorial videos.
They were not made for this, so they are kinda messy.
I've made them a member's post to try to offer anything for those that want to support me in any way.
(same unlocks in ko-fi. In fact, ko-fi is better because they don't take a cut from donation/memberships like patreon does, but off course, anyone works)
Not sure if I'll do that for all the videos yet. I still need to organize how I manage my recording projects. But if I make a tutorial that has something extra in them, I'll make sure to post the project files here somewhere.
That's it.
Thanks for everything.
