Yes, you can. This answer might seem obvious, but I keep seeing the idea that “you need talent” used as an excuse not to learn art.

Talent is a natural ease with something, often seen early, without much training. That helps, sure—but the key to becoming an artist is skills. You can have them naturally through talent, or you can build them through discipline.
So, what kind of skills should your discipline focus on?
If your direction is similar to mine, just follow the tips I’ve been giving you:
Draw or paint at least 30 minutes a day.
Choose references you enjoy—not just what you think you should do, but what you like within what you should study. If it’s all mandatory, you’ll resist more than necessary.
When you finish a piece, compare it to the reference. Spot what’s off—shape, values, colours—without emotion. You’re not supposed to be “good” yet. Be honest. Be critical, not cruel. Ask what you could fix next time.
Share your work with people who are just as invested (like our Discord community).
Do this every single day. That’s why it must be short and simple—so even on tough days, you can keep going.
Here’s what you’ll become:
Aware.
Confident.
Efficient.
Resilient.
Skills useful to make progress. To get a job and keep it. To be a good artist. Are you starting today?
