This was a great interview! So much fun to watch!

Great interview and your observation on the future of RPG online is spot on. Nothing beats a live RPG at your table and the spontaneity you get being in person when you play.

My group has also found that decent game support in porgrams like FoundryVTT and Fantasy Grounds actually reduces the effort needed to learn a new system, which means we've been able to try out far more games than we perhaps otherwise would. Full automation is something I'd avoid where possible though, as it removes flexibility for the GM to tinker with how things work. I've tried to keep this in mind with the FoundryVTT system I help develop (Conan2d20 - fantastic game if you haven't tried it).

That was a fun interview, Trevor! It's awesome to make time for a channel that doesn't have many subscribers. I hope my fellow Devallians give this guy a chance and subscribe.

Yeah, there are advantages. I hadn’t spoken to some of my old Canadian gaming friends in years before we fired up Roll20, and now we are in contact even more regularly than when I lived up there.

One point of view about online play. My older brother and I aren't the "chat on the phone" types. And I hadn't talked to him with any regularity in probably 10 years. I started playing online with Foundry VTT, and invited him to play in my game. And now we talk multiple times a week, so online gaming has brought me back into touch with my brother. Beyond that I have made more legit friends playing online in just a few years then I have in a decade playing in person. There is something special about getting together face to face. But for me, virtual play has become my preferred method of play
