Long Term Plans
Added 2025-06-12 02:07:04 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, I will have to delay v0.33 for a week for predictable and arduous reasons. I'm in the final stretch of actually moving to my new location, and it will require involving a lot more time and energy that I have to allocate away from writing. For the foreseeable future, all updates will also take around 2 weeks to be finished. It gives me just a little bit more wiggle room to deal with surprise delays or incidents that crop up, while still being able to deliver content in a semi-normal time frame. Posts regarding content updates will still be weekly, with sneak peeks into the new content and possibly some polls regarding outcomes.
This being said, eventually gears will shift again and releases will slow even more. I hate having to say it, but my schedule will have to transition into monthly updates. Not this month or likely not even in July, but sometime in the future it will happen. I like the constant feedback and upgrades, but I cannot keep up with the deadlines I keep setting for myself. I oftentimes set myself lofty goals and just barely manage to achieve them while sacrificing parts of the writing that make me not proud of it. I hope you understand and continue to support me regardless of the circumstances.
Here is my timeline for development moving forward:
Finish the Playable Endings - Self explanatory. I really enjoy the idea and have many clever ways of implementing them that I want to explore.
Release Act 3 - Act 3 is looking to be... serviceable, at worst. With 2-3 more unique encounters and locations, I really think it will be able to stand on its own. The Castle and proper endings will still be locked behind paid membership for a time.
Road to Alivir 1.0 - As much as I love this project and the support it's received, all good things must come to an end. 1.0 doesn't necessarily mean development will cease entirely, but my focus will be most entirely on other projects.
The Last Courier - I like the concept and the execution, but it's sort of been collecting dust. Pick it back up, throw it aside, it'll mostly depend on my situation and what you guys think. Will likely put it to a poll.
Smaller Projects - I'll be the first to admit that Road to Alivir and The Last Courier are extremely ambitious projects that will require hundreds of thousands of words and hundreds of hours to fully sculpt into a state I desire and feel satisfied with. Eventually I want to make short, self contained TF games with a single focus that it does well to achieve.
Expand Engines - Twine is an invaluable creation tool, and I'm thankful for its accessibility and simplicity, but I want to eventually expand my horizons to other toolkits. RPG Maker comes to mind, and so does Unity. I know these things take extraordinarily more time to understand and master, and these ideas will likely take upwards of a year to come to fruition. Also hugely depends on finding an actual artist!
Again, I thank you all for supporting me, financially or otherwise. It's a long road, and I'm happy to travel it with you <3
