Sometime this morning, itch.io officially 'deindexed' all of their adult content, essentially meaning games containing nudity or nsfw themes are shadow-banned, and this includes both Road to Alivir and The Last Courier. I'm a little scared of what this will mean moving forward, since itch is where I wanted to host my games for ease of access, but I will most likely be considering moving somewhere.
As much as I'd rather avoid politics, this is a blatant and serious overreach by the right-wing Christian group Collective Shout to try and pressure payment processors to take down support for platforms with adult themes. Things could backslide and become precarious for lots of nsfw creators, and I don't want to even imagine a possibility where I have to take down both of my games just to appease a puritanical policy created under the guise of protecting children. The state of the world right now combined with the spinelessness of corporations makes me think this is a real possibility, however.
Hopefully, this all blows over and things return to normal. If not, I'm looking elsewhere.
