The amount of devices Wrecker would have to memorize inside and out would already make him smarter than the average schmuck. Not to mention the lesson he gave Omega. Sure it was kinda fucked up but not only did it help Omega start her journey in understanding explosives, it also helped her appreciate the kind of work Wrecker has been doing for years by forcing her into a stressful situation to show that it's not as easy as it looks. This is a fucking brilliant way to teach someone and it came from a character most would consider an idiot.
