There's this site that's been doing the rounds, it's a bit like Uber but for online therapy. Youtubers and other social media influencers are pushing it like it's the future of mental health.

At first that sounds like it could be a good idea, but when you think about it and look a bit more closely it turns out they don't really do much for you. Where uber puts you in touch with drivers you wouldn't find otherwise, BetterHelp matches you with a therapist you could have found on your own. Then they make you and them agree to limit what you'll do for therapy with them, and try to lock you into a long term payment plan.

It's garbage that makes money off of people who don't know what they're doing, without actually offering them something of any real value.

And that's not even mentioning the potential flaws of 'therapy on demand.' Is it healthy for you or your therapist to become too intertwined on a day-to-day basis?
