VN/game update, test animation gif

Hopefully this gif works for everyone, its an opening scene where the MC is getting out of a hospital bed and throwing the blanket away. I'm talking to a few programmers at the moment to see how hard it is to add moving layers like this in most of my scenes for the VN. I want to step it up a bit from all the static renders you see in VN's these days, reduce the constant clicking through renders that could have been done without. This could have just been one still image of him getting out of bed or even 2 still images in sequence but I think this form of animation gives a better representation and feel than static images.

Its very simple animation but I think if done correctly will add a whole lot more life and immersion. Full sex scenes will be more complex animations like I posted the other week, these simple layered animations are just for story sections. What do you guys think?

Exactly, they go the easy route, I'm wanting to step it up a notch. I know exactly what you mean but don't think about the blanket or anything happening in this one animation too much, that's one scene out of to be thousands, its like seeing a random render from a game and making a judgement on the whole scene or story based on it, you just can't do it, this is just a test animation to put the main animation functions in place to see how it works. Its sequences of images (still or animated) along with text and even sounds and music that make aspects of what you're seeing make sense. For now I haven't given enough information about this scene for it to make sense in the scope of the story so don't get hung up on that. Another reason for animations is to eliminate a lot of the useless clicking through 10 renders when the feeling and message could have been conveyed in a one click animation. Also to avoid rendering 10 sequential renders to try get a message across which would take up WAY more time than any simple layered animation. These are very simple layers manipulated so they don't take any longer than regular renders, in fact some will be quicker because I won't have to spend time compositing in photoshop (because of my poor GPU I currently have to render nearly every single image I produce in my comics and composite in photoshop), I'll just animate the layers in Ren'py, any small extra time needed (if any at all) will be well worth the minimal wait (10% extra time needed, tops). I've seen people wait months for small, poor updates. Yeah they bitch about it but they keep going back to these games, I've been pumping out more renders just in comics, promo images and random renders and better quality than most of these games I have seen, so updates in a decent time frame won't be a problem :)

The animation does look great, no question about it. But I think that most other creators decide to go with regular pictures mostly because they are much easier/less time consuming to create. Having the blanket flying away is not really important to the story, and if it takes much longer people will get annoyed by the lack of content/updates rather quickly, I´m afraid.

Thanks! Yeah the VN is going to be a much bigger and more detailed story, it'll be like Rapper's Bangbus times 100. There'll be the usual light hearted tone and out there moments but a lot more realism and character development too, it'll be more "cinematic" overall which to me means both better visuals and story telling.

I think you have a lot of talent, the animation is wonderful, but I hope you continue to maintain quality in the stories, for example Rapper's Bangbus is amazing. I think the most important thing is the development of the story. keep it up.
