Rambling about interactivity and the game

No proper progress updates this month, I've been too lazy, thinking too much and doing too little, anyway...

I personally think that many VN games are just pointless, due to the lack of interactivity and real choices. To tell a linear story, like many games do(both japanese and western), it's WAY better a comic/CG Gallery/Video: It's faster to create, works everywhere(even a potato PC/mobile) and will work in the future with different O.S, easy to distribute, easy to share, can be enjoyed online without downloads(WebGL games are a thing, but not that common), can be as complex as you want in graphics, it's faster to go to the point you want...

The game as a format it's really "worth it" when there's some degree of interactivity or gameplay. My game didn't reached that status(except map navigation), in fact, I think that YF in its current state probably would be better as a comic, than as a game, I wasn't planning to stop adding content that soon

If the result of 3D characters ain't good enough(animation, looks), or I cannot produce the content at a decent speed, I always can do that change, repurposing the draws to do a comic. The 3D map can also be repurposed as a 3D interactive view of the house, even with VR support, which it's something pretty interesting, even if the game continues. We'll see

Thanks for staying there :)

See ya soon!

A game I think brings more life to the story, with some graphic effects(including text), transitions, animations without necessarily being a video. Tho an online comic can also have animated pages in GIF format, which partially solves that. What I love from a comic, is that I can see exactly where's the stuff I'm looking for, or I can go back and forward as I please, it's practical, I love that freedom, not having to go "next, next, next" if there's something I'm not interested in The thing is, even if a game it's a little bit better at narrating a linear story, it has so many drawbacks that I don't think this format it's the best choice. All of this changes at the moment there's real interactivity, that's what makes games so special compared to other formats

Thats an interesting idea, I think for a lot of vn's they do mainly rely on the strength of their story to draw people in. The difference between a comic and a vn, for me it would be like how a vn has the ability to actively narrate a story while a comic is more like passive reading. Maybe its the difference between a story being told to you, instead of reading it with your eyes? Not sure.
