Blake cried into her mother for what felt like hours, regaling her with as censored a version of her past couple months as she could. It was far too much, but she found herself spilling as much of her guts as she could. Kali kept polite, nodding along, even when things were obviously less than comfortable. When Blake was done, her eyes felt nearly swollen shut they were so puffy from crying.
"So, what are you going to do baby- er…" Kali hesitated.
"I- it's ok, you can still call me that." Blake hugged her mother.
"Well, good to know, but if that changes, please keep me aware of the situation."
"I will."
"And what will you do?" Kali questioned again.
Blake's face read panic and she knew it, but she had no idea how to answer! "I! I don't know! That's- that's why I told you all that stuff! I was hoping you'd know-"
"I can't give you the answers sweetie."
"I know." Blake moped.
"I can share my thoughts if you want however?"
"Yes please!"
Kali took a deep preparatory inhale. "I take it you still care for her… even with the newest revelations?"
"I love her Mom."
"I see." Kali nodded. "And I take it you have not informed her about your worries on gender just yet?"
"I wanted to, but she stormed off before I could!"
"Then you already know you need to tell her about it; to explain how you felt about-" Kali coughed. "Your potential modifications."
"I! But! But she'll never believe me now! I! Maybe she would have been understanding before, but not now! Not after she just found out about-"
"All the more reason to be truthful now, besides, it was just a lie or two, and-"
"That's the thing! It wasn't just a couple lies… it was… well, it was just a couple lies, but I kinda used some stuff to make her forget and to-"
"Ah… the hypnosis, right." Kali nodded.
"Yeah…" Blake sighed.
"Then, maybe you should come clean about everything, even the things you don't want to. Not just gender?" Kali paused. “Maybe you should begin undoing everything you did to her… umm hypnosis wise.” She managed to cough out to both of their extreme discomfort.
“What! I! No! I! If I do that! She’ll-” Blake’s voice caught in her throat as she pulled away from her mother.
“She’ll what?”
“I! It’s just…” Blake’s heart sunk… did she really just think that?
“Sweetie?’ Kali’s voice took a mildly judgemental tone for the first time in their whole conversation.
“I-” Blake was pale and she could feel it.
“Blake, why are you afraid of undoing it?”
“B- because… she-” Blake’d expression grew even more serious. “She’s been… effected the whole time we’ve been together… and-”
“And you’re afraid that if she’s in her right mind, she won’t love you ever again?”
“M- maybe.” Blake curled up on herself shameful.
“You know that’s not right.”
“I- I didn’t do anything to like make her want me or anything! That was never even the point! I! It was just- I was mad and… needed her a little broken to comply and help and…”
“I know baby girl. But you know what you have to do.”
“Yeah.”
“It’s going to be alright, even if she doesn't feel the same after. You are my strong gir- dau- my strong child.” Kali groaned frustrated with her faux pas.
“Thanks Mom. Love you.”
“Love you too.”
“Ok Kiddo, but it’s probably time to go talk to her now.”
The goodbye with her mother was long and involved more hugging than most would have thought to be normal, but nothing about it felt to be normal. Kali promised her daughter that things would be ok and that if she needed, Blake could come back to her at any time. Blake already knew that much, but it was still really nice to hear.
With a renewed energy, Blake turned back to the hidden entrance. She could do this, she could do this, she could do this. Blake fought to calm and prepare herself. It might not be good, or easy, but whatever was next, she could handle it. A deep breath, and Blake forged on. Her hand landed on the door handle and- wait… why wouldn’t it open? It worked for Ilia, Sun, and Qrow? What was different? Blake fought with the door but it wouldn’t open. Concern built a new in her stomach. What- what locked it- who! She tried one last attempt at forcing the door open before accepting it just wasn’t going to happen. Momentarily, she considered shooting the lock open; she did have her weapon on her after all, but shooting into a hospital felt a little tasteless, especially after they had helped her.
She accepted that busting through the door wasn’t the best idea, but that didn’t help any of her darkest worries stop festering. With a stressed exhale, Blake rushed for the hospital’s front door and strived to remind herself that it was unlikely anything bad would happen to someone hidden away in a hospital.
Concern only skyrocketed when Blake took the last turn that she thought would lead her back to the room Weiss was in turned out to be a dead end! “What?!” Blake reeled. “Fucking maze hospital.” She griped and spun around, aiming to retrace your steps. Muttering under her breath the whole way, Blake only got more lost as she began to race the hallway. Goals to be respectful or quiet for those healing, sleeping, or working went right out the window the third time Blake took a turn and thought Weiss would be right around the corner.
Someone tried to stop her, and Blake even considered pausing to ask them for help, but the memory that Weiss hadn’t been admitted to the system only left her even further terrified. What if someone saw her? What if someone realized who she was? Someone realizing she was the Schnee heiress to bring her back home was the best of all possible ends, and even that- wait!
Did… did Blake really care more about Weiss getting home safe than about her value when it came to saving the faunus? It- it certainly wouldn’t be for the best of the faunus… There was no chance Weiss would suddenly change her stripes after being kidnaped, raped, mind fucked, modded, and abused… Likely, her return would only lead to things growing worse in Atlas… but- but… Blake felt sick with more than just worry. Not only had she lied to, manipulated, and betrayed Weiss, now she also cared more about one girl than the whole of the faunus? All those at risk back in Atlas?
Blake ran faster. She needed to find Weiss. The best case scenario left her feeling sick, but the thought of something worse happening to Weiss; someone taking out their anger on her- doing exactly what she had done… for a moment, Blake felt it might have been better if it were her who tried what Weiss had done. Deserving was an odd concept, even more so when applied to that, but somehow Blake found herself to be more a monster than the woman who had apparently voted in favor of enslaving and murdering innocent faunus. The thoughts were too much. Blake felt sick and she just needed to find Weiss! She needed to know that Weiss was-
“Thank fucking god! There it is!” She spotted the familiar exit sign above the secluded door to her immense delight. Heart still beating in her ears, Blake charged forward, completely missing the gruff voice emanating from Weiss’s room.
If Blake hadn’t been so panicked, she would have heard the whole of his words, rather than just the tail end, but what she did heat was enough to push her to action. “- can just escape! Think you are good enough to just get death?” Was all she could hear.
Blake lept into the room only to spot The same creep doctor, standing over Weiss, clearly jabbing and turning the IV into Weiss’s arm to hurt her. “You hear me cunt? There’s no end to this until your family lets them all go! Only then, then maybe do you-” As he went to grab at Weiss’s face, Blake grabbed him and yanked him off of her.
“What the hell is wrong with you! Get off of her!”
“Huh? I? What? What the hell is wrong with me? She’s a Schnee!” The doctor reeled. “I respect what you’re doing but you’ve been far too lenient wi-” He was cut off by Blake’s firm smack.
“Back the hell off! She’s better than all of us! Not only did she fight her father when she could, but she’s helped me at every turn once she got here- I kidnapped her, and despite that, she is personally responsible for saving half of the White Fang!”
“I- what? I- I didn’t know!” The doctor stammered, stumbling backwards.
“Course you didn’t! Now get! I’m taking her home!” Blake yelled and threw her hand up, pointing at the door.
“I- I- fine.” He grumbled, red with embarrassment. He scurried away with all his shame, not another word, just leaving the other two to themselves.
“I- I-” Weiss stammered. “But- I just told you… told you that-”
“I lied! Lied to get him to leave you alone.” Blake gruffed.
“O- oh…” Weiss sunk into her bed.
“I may not know how I feel about it yet… but I do know what you’ve done.” Blake assured as she found a seat to collapse in.
“What’s there to feel about it… I’m not who you thought I was, you’re not who I thought you were. I was under the impression it was simple.” Weiss tried and failed to present a facade of being ok.
“I guess you’re right in a way.” Blake allowed. “I guess the question is what now?”
“I wasn’t aware it was much of a question.” Weiss averted her eyes.
“And if it was? If I was asking you? What do you want Weiss?”
Weiss shook her head. “What does it matter; what I do or don’t want?”
“It matters to me!” Blake yelled again.
“What do you want?” Weiss shot back.
“I want you, free to do whatever you want, and the faunus no longer in danger.”
“Yeah, but how the hell do you plan to do that?”
Blake nodded. “I don’t.” She deflated and shrugged. “I don’t. And the White Fang is breathing down my neck, demanding I get more results faster. They’re threatening that if I don’t, they’ll call a vote; one to force me to give you up.” Blake complained.
“Just love being a sex toy and a prop.” Weiss rolled her eyes.
“Well, congratulations. You won’t be either anymore.” Blake stood and approached Weiss’s hospital bed. She undid the bonds, then the IV, then shot the cuffs off of the heiress with her weapon. “I presume you know the codes and how to get a Schnee fleet ship up in the air?”
“W- what?” Weiss gawked up at Blake.
“The one my friends flew in on after you saved them, it’s still on the runway, or in hanger six. That’s the one reserved for the White Fang. It’s still just three something in the morning. No one mans the runway cause they figure if anyone has the codes and keys for a ship along with the know how, they ought to be the one flying it. So…” Blake kicked down the bars on the side of Weiss’s bed. “There… now you’re neither a sex toy or a prop.”
“W- wha-” Weiss’s eyes darted around Blake full of shock.
“I love you, but you’re not mine.” The natural faunus leaned in, kissed Weiss’s forehead and moved to whisper something into her ear. “You’re not mine, you never were. You are not my Kitten. You are your own, you are free.” The words slipped from Blake’s lips and echoed around Weiss head, slowly tearing off stray tethers that bound her mind together.
It hit Weiss hard, harder than any of being hypnotized ever did. She felt like her brainstem had been unplugged, like some part of her disconnected and her brain was spinning. Immediately, she wanted to cry as Blake pulled away; as that warmth left her. There was no warmth left. Like… like something had been taken from her. “Wh- what did you do?” She managed almost accusatory.
“You’re free Weiss. I can hope you’ll not double down on anti faunus regulations when you return… A couple hours ago, and I wouldn’t have been able to believe you could even bring yourself to do anything to hurt them… but… I guess we both learned things about each other today. For that, I am sorry. I love you Ki- I love you Weiss.” Blake smiled at her, and it looked like it hurt- not just hurt, it looked like the faunus was slowly being lowered into magma, but wore a smile the whole way down. “Take care.” Blake turned away and stepped to leave.
“WAIT!” Weiss interrupted
Blake raised her head and spun back around to see Weiss. “Huh?”
“Wait…” Weiss looked down to her wrists and rubbed them gently. “I… the doctor was right.”
Blake just shook her head and repeated. “Huh?”
“He was right. I- I don’t deserve death; that’d be too good.”
“Weiss.”
“I understand why you’re letting me go, why we’re done… but that doesn't mean I don’t still have things to atone for.” Weiss turned to her arm where the IV had been and where she was already beginning to bruise horribly. “I have my excuses, and I’m sure you have yours. I won’t bother you with my reasons, but that doesn't mean I’m not interested in making amends… Not for you, for me. And… not that I really can… just…” Weiss seemed to shrink.
“Weiss, you- I- I mean, I still l-”
“Just take me home. Your friends want faster? Fine. We ramp up, we pressure my father, we free the faunus. Fuck! Make him give up ownership of the company! Sell it to investors! Ones with less political power; ones that can’t just put everything back together again when it’s all been taken down.” Weiss sat up. “Take me home, we finish this, and then we go our separate ways.”
“S- separate ways?”
“Separate ways. You get your life, I get mine.”
“And that’s what you want?”
“I want to make things right. I’ll never be able to do that, not really, but I can give it my best shot.” Weiss answered cold and distant. “Then you’ll never have to deal with me again.”
“Weiss, you-” Blake nodded. “Yeah, and you’ll never have to deal with me again either.”
