EARLY ACCESS: Buckley vs The New Norm

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/6w9NbSO2B9E

Hey everyone, it's Early Access Day, and this is going to be one of those comments sections where you'll be very much able to tell who only watched the first 5 minutes of the video and who actually watched it all the way through. If you're not aware of what's become one of the biggest memes online, you are in for a treat, and if you're already very familiar with The New Norm, perhaps you'll learn a couple new things from this one. Either way, enjoy!

Did you know there's not really any edgy comedy on the Internet?! NONE! It was outlawed... until a new hero emerged to solve this problem, and his name is "Norm". The New Norm Show is "The First Animated Sitcom on X", self-described as "South Park meets All in the Family", and possibly financially backed by Elon? Buckley investigates its origins, the creators, and tries to answer the most important question... is it FUNNY? Or... does it have a not-so-secret ulterior motive?

EARLY ACCESS: Buckley vs The New Norm

Hmm. I just read a Guardian article where the writer stated something along the lines of “he played for the team now known as the Washington Commanders” and later used the phrase “Washington Commanders former name”. It seems that the righties aren’t the only ones that buy into that idea that the words “Washington Redskins” are triggering

The animation really takes me back to Liberty's Kids and Inspector Gadget and shows like that I used to get DVDs for in the cereal box as a 2000s kid

They don't realize that making fun of the libs doesn't mean just making fun of what they think of you, but making fun of what you think of them.

John Lumsden Jr.

All in the Family was inspired by the UK show In Sickness and in Health. The main character was Alf Garnett, and again the premise was largely satirising a bigoted person who was outdated and left behind in a changing world, but wasn’t inherently bad and loved his family. The irony of the right embracing Alf and what they felt he stood for was that Warren Mitchell, who played him, was a Jewish-born socialist. I suppose the problem with all entertainment is a lot of people miss satire, nuance and subtlety. Good shows make you want to discuss it with others, pick it apart, explore other people’s opinions and interpretations. I don’t think NewNorm has enough depth for that! Thanks as ever Buckley.

Yeah, I mean if you're going to say you're edgy and you're the cure for Wokeness or whatever, go all in. Nothing in these videos could possibly hurt anyone's feelings. I've hurt more feelings with my jokes and people call ME a woke lib.

Adam Buckley

The tropes are so awful and outdated

The Sock Monkey!

I love how your main criticism is that it's not edgy enough. But you're right, this is a huge problem in conservative leaning comedy. It's either the same 2 jokes over and over, or not actually jokes at all. I've always said the worst thing comedy can be is predictable, and these people are as predictable as the fucking tides.

Connor Stilwell

So far it seems like that's the fanbase... most people watching it in the way people enjoy The Room or a bad B-Movie, somewhat ironically rather than genuinely.

Adam Buckley

I did have that thought, that if Elon paid for it, one would think he should have given them more so he looked better. And yeah, I really enjoyed what All in the Family I've seen, I don't believe I've watched it all but definitely a few seasons. That Sammy one is classic, and the one I showed in the video, Cleavon Little breaking in and the whole "Doctor Black" scene... such a great show. There was a show in Canada called "Bizarre" that I don't know if you would have ever seen, it was where Super Dave Osborne originated. It was a sketch comedy show, and they had a thing called "The Bigot Family" that absolutely could not be made today. But they all made fun of each other (I think it was like an Italian Dad, Polish Wife, Jewish Daughter, Black son-in-law, that sort of thing) and again the point of it was that racism is stupid, but I think a lot of people who watched it in the era just enjoyed the jokes at face value. I'm sure clips of it exist SOMEWHERE on the Internet.

Adam Buckley

I actually really enjoy watching the show - it's just so poorly written and ill-conceived that I can't look away, it's like a bad trainwreck that you can't help but stare at

I am not sure about ol' Elonia, if they paid for it, the character would have been drawn like Terminator Arnold body, plus a visible Arnold Palmer bulge, but bigger. At least AITF was funny. One image sticks with me - Archie's face when Sammy Davis Jr kissed him. Oh well, there's a lot of shit masquerading as humor on Twitter, which I do not miss at all.

Fiz Gig

Haha shit have I told that story before? Fuck I've done way too many videos now. Well, as a storyteller, sometimes you just gotta tell the same stories in a fresh way!

Adam Buckley

These guys attempted to be as funny as Mel Brooks/Richard Pryor, but ended up as funny as Tommy Wiseau. Also Buckley, you told us that “father” was your grandfather.

Ash Archer

Yessir it is

Hoofy AF

That it is sir lol

Hoofy AF

I assume this is a joke about that child who ripped off a bunch of people?

Adam Buckley

I think you could make a 30 page list of all the things the creators of this show are not aware of.

Adam Buckley

I think people tend to hide it better in real life because they know it sounds so silly being spoke out loud.

Adam Buckley

I felt like at the end it almost turned more into my Arthur Buckley character.

Adam Buckley

Your bill burr turned into Joe Swanson lol. Awesome video

Mr. Scadoop

I would hate to meet someone in real life who cares as much about the "woke mind virus" as people online seem to.

Ash Bobgan

I lost a lot of money on Millennial Quant Coin, so this cheered me up a bit

Hoofy AF

Were the people behind this not aware that South Park actually took influence from All In The Family?
