Bonus #253 - Oasis Solves Ticket Scalping... sort of (Extra Dose)

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/8yMWZFv5iPs

Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day, and also happy Thanksgiving-eve-eve to my American friends! Tomorrow (Wednesday) is considered the biggest travel day of the year, and then of course Friday is the biggest trampling day of the year. But, despite every instinct telling me that Thanksgiving weekend is a TERRIBLE time to put out a new video, I am still going to do that, looking back at various music festivals fucking up throughout 2024. BUT, before we get to that, how about a video about a band actually doing something good... sort of? Enjoy this look at how Oasis kinda screwed over a few fans, but then eventually redeemed themselves by showing that scalping, touting, reselling tickets for more than they're worth, whatever you want to call it, CAN be solved, if a band or artist actually cares (TAYLOR...)

No one expected that, in 2024, the Gallagher brothers would finally put their differences aside and reunite Oasis for a world tour. But even FEWER people expected that, while doing so, they'd prove that ticket scalpers CAN be beaten? A look at how Oasis has solved a problem that even the biggest act in the world couldn't fix... eventually...

I got in on the ballot after the shenanigans with Dynamic Prices. To be honest it felt fair I ended paying face value. Kudos to the Gallaghers

That’s quite a tune, mate. ☕️

“Fucking tune” is my new compliment for good music now

Morgan Mason

Does that make me a “super fan” of Oasis because I know the song “Where did it all go wrong?” And the album? Not something I should advertise but here we are.

Alexa Franklin

There was also news coverage in the UK of thousands complaining to the government who are now looking into dynamic pricing. So hopefully we can do something to limit the insane rise of ticket prices

David Morton

Sometimes positive can be funny... Although I do make fun of Ticketmaster and Scalpers in general (and ViaGogo). And Oasis sort of, some fans HATE when you claim Green Day was bigger.

Adam Buckley

Love the Danny Goodman sentence from Argo - „Arg go f!(k yourself“ 😄

Daniel von Sivers

I was waiting for the other shoe to drop this entire dose.. but this was mostly positive.. what twilight zone am I in?

Ideally, it should be more public that bands have this option when setting up their tour and fans should be pissed if they don't take it.

Adam Buckley

Honestly I'm amazed that this option is available and I hope others follow this example

I am getting too old for concerts. So old that I have to say that I saw Elvis Costello (Armed Forces tour) and Devo (FOC tour) for $6 each show, and Iggy Pop for $3. The most expensive show I saw was Yes in Philly, 1980 which was $9.50. Best thing about being old was seeing all the best bands for dirt cheap. Camping out for tickets was a blast too.

Yeah - Robert Smith did this last year. He also kept ticket prices low and made TM waive/refund booking fees. Surprise, The Cure tour was super successful.
