Bonus #278 - Dry Weddings are UNACCEPTABLE! (Extra Dose)

NOTE: If you missed it on the weekend, I posted a brand new Q&A, and I've answered most if not all of the questions so far. After this video, feel free to go read through it and add your own question!

Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day! I've been sitting on this one for a little bit, but as we get closer to Wedding Season, I think it's more relevant than it was a few weeks ago. Yeah, that's a good excuse for why I delayed this in order to post the Nickelback video last week, right? Enjoy!

As wedding season approaches, the women of TikTok have some hot takes for how YOU should make YOUR special day more special for THEM! A look at a video that went viral in which a woman claims that Dry Weddings (that is, a wedding without any alcohol available) are "unacceptable", and that someone expecting booze at a wedding isn't an alcoholic. Also, Buckley proves what a romantic he is as he describes marriage.

I recently got invited to an wedding out of the country, over $1000 JUST for the ticket. And I have to deal with alcoholic family members on a regular basis. This video was made for me XD

With stuff like that- it depends. Like if its an Islamic marriage, of course there will be no alcohol nor any expectation to provide alcohol. Because alcohol is haram in Islam. In secular cultures, alcohol is a custom but there shouldn't be any obligation either. This is something that is best communicated on the first invite. This is how you know if you need to sneak a flask or not.

I feel like there was maybe an Amy Winehouse joke in there somewhere with regards to friends and alcohol but I didn't want to take any cheap SHOTS at her. We really should be RAISING THE BAR with our comedy.

It should be up to the wedding couple if they want alcohol or not. Plenty of non-alcoholic refreshments you can have to “host”, like mocktails, juices, sodas, etc. If you can’t function without alcohol for an evening, you’re likely an alcoholic.

The weddings that I have attended all had booze flowing, and most of it was the "home made" specialty. Good quality stuff. For myself, I wouldn't even have a full wedding. Just a handful of family members and few friends in front of a judge. I'm not religious, so no church involvement. Then again, it's not something I need to worry about being an un-dateable gremlin and all...
