Bonus #240 - Disney Can Legally Kill Your Wife! (Extra Dose)

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/-52LE5OL87k

NOTE: Before I forget, if you didn't check out last week's Patreon exclusive about Celine Dion and Isaac Hayes being mad at Trump for using music (which he can legally use because of licensing fun), it became more relevant again THIS week when the Foo Fighters got mad about the exact same thing. Add Dave Grohl to the list I guess!

Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day, and you've probably heard SOMETHING about this story, saw some memes like the picture of that North Korean woman on Joe Rogan captioned "In America, Disney can kill your wife if you use Disney+", that sort of thing. Well, your ol' pal Buckley's here as always to explain what's going on in 5 or so minutes, so you don't have to wade through a bunch of bullshit. ALSO: there is a minor update (which I'll put in the comments on YouTube), it doesn't really change the video though. Enjoy!

Ahhh Walt Disney World, The Most Magical Place on Earth! That is... when you're not dying of anaphylactic shock because a staff member got your order wrong, and then the company tells you that you can't sue them because you signed up for Disney+ 4 years ago! Buckley looks at the story behind the memes, and the greater law behind it that lets companies avoid a jury trial if you signed the terms of service for ANY unrelated product of theirs.

I can say as someone with an education in the culinary industry and with a ServSafe Food Manager certificate that Disney will get in trouble somehow and that restaurant will be closed down completely within a day.

Cartoon Lover Productions

Does anyone else remember that South Park episode about not reading terms of service before agreeing to anything? Humancentipad?

Mesayla

I believe they noted in their lawsuit that Disney marked the restaurant as allergy friendly on their website.

This one was Top-Tier sir 🫑 keep up the great work!

Chase Courtney

This is actually one of the best doses you’ve done in ages - cool topic, cringey pun jokes, funny jokes (angels in the outfield had me in stitches)… nicely done dude

Ash Archer

Haha I think my Mickey's getting worse actually, but thank you.

Adam Buckley

Getting good at voice acting there Buckley.

Matthew Barnett

Yeah the challenge is that it IS on their land, and a lot of times in the US that's enough. Like if someone slips on your property even though it's entirely their fault, there have been cases where people sued for that. So in a wrongful death case that happens on Disney's property, they may have a claim for SOME of the damages (maybe that's why this case is like 5 or low 6 figures and not 7)

Adam Buckley

Oh god could you imagine! But anyway I think the husband should be more specific at suing the restaurant which I’m pretty sure is a chain as there negligence was clearly at fault.

Josh Mannig

I got the impression that Disney is just the landlord- the restaurant is independently owned and operated. The family is hoping to attach Disney to the complaint because they have deeper pockets. There’s some technicalities involved - Disney has a link to the restaurant on their website, for example, which might give the impression they are endorsing it.

Scott Krasche

That's always a bonus!

Adam Buckley

Be honest, you only did this story for all the silly voices you got to do.

Istari1000

🎢It's a fucked up company after all🎢

Sean Flynn

I’m already envisioning Judge Judy presiding over this and handing Disney their asses.
