Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day, but it's ALSO a brand new month, so I just wanted to let you know that there are spots open in both the SIGNATURE tier as well as the METADOSE tier. So, if you've been waiting for a chance to get a signed script, or a recording from me of some kind, feel free to go check those out. Anyway, on with today's bonus, which is maybe one of my favorite Rage Reviews I've done so far, just pure comedy as we look at people who gave one star reviews to the... hunk of electrified metal you stick in water.
In possibly the wildest edition of Rage Reviews so far, Buckley looks at people who were upset with this product that they purchased from Amazon: a hunk of metal you plug directly into a wall and then submerge in water. Can you believe some of the buyers had issues?!
"don't talk to me before I've had my coffee" people are the absolute worst

Actually nothing wrong with the product itself, they're quite useful for professionals who work for example in a lab. But yeah, poor production quality and laymen at work. I'd assume the residue observed doesn't come from the device itself but from the container/water being heated at high temperatures (fat, soap or precipitated minerals).

You are correct with the grounding. It would trip a breaker if there was an electrical short. The reason it probably doesn't have one is added cost for the extra wire.
However, lacking a ground pin on this is really the least of it's problems. It would potentially reduce the risk of electric shock, but it wouldn't prevent the device from melting down or causing a fire. A temperature cutoff or timer would be more effective.

If you want to see some people that need to be protected from themselves, check out the scams subreddit. I started going there after working in a fraud department and lord you just see the absolute depths of (to put it nicely) human naivety.

I've used these things 30+ years ago when I my age was barely shown in double digits. I guess they were built with higher quality back then, cause there was never any issues with them.

Not sure what’s wrong with just getting a kettle, pot or a coffee maker. No way would I get that.

What's a pack of matches cost? Or a little BIC lighter? $10? Or just stick some paper in the oven and you're away to the races! Don't even have to wait for Amazon delivery!

I have a tiny electric kettle that I got for 15 bucks at Khol's I'll bring with me on road trips or whatever. Perhaps that's a better solution than this monstrosity.

Why would I buy this when I can just burn my house down for free?

Yeah Amazon had small plugin kettles for $30. Would fit in luggage just fine, and be far less likely to electrocute or set you on fire.

I can't even begin to imagine buying something like this. I believe it was George Carlin who said "Imagine who stupid the average person is, and most people are stupider than that". What I'd love to know is the good reviews for this thing. These people were willing to spend $20 for this thing, but won't cough up a couple extra for a kettle? Or even get a used one for cheaper? It's a fuckin kettle!
