Bonus #247 - Chappell Roan Fights With Fans... AGAIN (Extra Dose)

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/FnIjb3rHJmE

Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day, and we're now less than a month before the US election, which means you can expect the online insanity to really ramp up (as if it could get any worse). So, in honor of that, a look at the recent backlash against Chappell Roan, who has refused to pick a side, but also refuses to shut up about how she won't pick a side, and the reaction from her fans, who already are kinda mad at her for not letting them be as parasocial as they want to be. Enjoy!

Chappell Roan, the woman who Buckley introduced some of you to a few weeks ago, who has been having trouble with her fans not respecting her boundaries, is now fighting with them over her political views (or lack thereof?) Why do fans NEED their favorite artists to agree with them, and why do artists NEED to respond to them? Someone take the shovel out of Chappell's hands, because she just keeps digging a bigger hole for herself.

She’s leftist, not a liberal. I hate how the internet is so quick to jump to conclusions.

Amanda Cohen

This chick REALLY needs to sort out her priorities.

LissaChelle9002

Cousinsuck Missouri. 🤣 I’m using that.

Asking a popstar's opinion on policies is like asking for a dating advice from Amber Heard.

Sean Flynn

I think she is the Democratic side, but she’s saying that she’s not voting for either side because she just wants her fans to shut the fuck up about her political views

Hannah Hakes

I mean, she’s got some really good points… but she just seems like such a tryhard contrarian saying them… whilst also shooting her career in the foot.

Ash Archer

Always pathetic to see Takei saying shit to stay relevant. I think I will crack open a champage bottle once he finally kicks the bucket

Michał Michalski

If you need to have a celebrity, tell you who to vote for then maybe you shouldn’t be voting

The Sock Monkey!

She’s a pop star, not a poli-sci major, online libtards expecting profound well articulated leftist views is hysterical.

Chappell Roan seems like one of the (openly) rudest celebrities ever.

After watching both of the videos she's made, you can easily see where she's coming from, even if you personally disagree with that reasoning. She's essentially a leftist, thinking Harris is the lesser of two evils rather than someome to be held up as ideal. She's not trying to appease anyone, this is just her genuine opinion, but when tensions are as high as they are now, even the slightest disagreements are gonna make people online furious.

My favorite band is Metallica. Do I know who James Hetfield is voting for? No. Can I make an educated guess? Yeah and it's not who I'm voting for. Roan's fans really need to grasp the reality that she's her own person, not the idol they've created. She's entitled to her own political opinions and the fans need to accept that. Now, I do think celebrity endorsements help and yes, Roan should look long and hard about what the pro and cons about her "both sides" outlook really is, but like the video says, she's not the artist to convert any undecided voters. She really could have just said "I'm on the Left" and her fans would assume she's voting for Harris. No hassles. Thanks for the video, sorry for the novel.

She actually cancelled my concert weekend because she was too sensitive to play for less than 10,000ish gay people at their music festival in rural Maryland! Perhaps the most understanding audience she could ever play for. Other artists had to step in for her and played tribute songs and shit and she never acknowledged it. Totally fine and ready to play Austin City Limits and big festivals tho with 3x the crowd size and 3x the republican voters

On the one hand, having a social media presence is important for marketing purposes. On the other hand, she's got enough money at this point that she can afford to hire a manager to handle that for her. She could put in the metaphorical ear plugs if she really wanted to.
