Bonus #302 - Truth In Advertising: We Know It's a Lie (Extra Dose)

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/5L9JNTaU9XU

Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day, and this is one of those stories that... this is such a 2013 Buckley video, exactly the type of topic I would have done, that would get destroyed by the algorithm in 2025. So, enjoy this video about someone trying to sue because their Arby's looked uglier than the picture (and the inconsistent nature of the courts that MIGHT give him the win!)

The average person knows that what you see isn't what you get when it comes to fast food, right? The Big Mac in the commercial does NOT look like the Big Mac in the box. We've come to accept this. OR HAVE WE?! A man is suing Arby's because the roast beef sandwiches he received were... less than photogenic, and didn't appear to contain as much meat as the ads imply. Does he have a case? Buckley looks at some other companies who've gotten away with lying, and wonders if some battles just aren't worth losing your lunch over.

The Arby’s in my area actually does pretty well. It doesn’t look EXACTLY like the picture (that’s not actually food) but it looks pretty close. Not at all like that blob of off-brown.

what I like about ads here in my country is that the food actually often looks like advertised. Burger king's steakhouse chicken burger often looks like on the ad pictures. Their whooper is a bit worse since the salad usually doesnt look that well, but the meat often matches the color on the pictures (and tastes good). Mcd struggles with their regular burgers, cheeseburger being the main offender (still tastes great) but our limited menu like Maestro or Lumberjack's burger (fan favourite here) do look like on the pics. Sometimes students working in McD overdo it with sauces but generally looks and tastes great. KFC only sucks at strips, too often I get ones that need more cooking/warming up. my credentials- 7th dan black belt at fast food consumption, KFC undisputed world champion.

as someone who worked at an arbys, that one did a bad job making their sandwhiches. but in general all the places should be consistent. we had to had the beef at a specific temp, the slicer for the beef was heated so the meat was always warm cause the beef was sliced per order and weighed. each sandwhich should look almost exactly the same. so the fact that this dude just NOW is complaining is wild.
