EARLY ACCESS: R.I.P. Rap: 1990 - 2025

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/W-x9VKz0VdY

Hey everyone, it's Early Access Day, and while next week is the Ten Worst Songs of 2025, I think some of you might enjoy this week's video just as much... especially those of you who like when I put rap songs in the list. Did you know the rap genre basically collapsed in popularity this year? If you hate rap, get your party hats and streamers out! If you love rap, perhaps a black veil? Watch the video to see what I'm talking about!

Over the past several decades, many music genres have risen and fallen in popularity. But Rap and Hip-Hop spend decades proving it wasn't a fad, to the delight of some and the severe dismay of others. Until this year?! After a 35 year streak, there wasn't a single rap song in the Billboard Hot 100 in October. But was this a fluke? A sign of how the charts are now compiled? OR, could we have seen this coming if only we saw the signs that rap has been losing its popularity for like 5 years now? Probably that third one. Buckley's got a theory as to why Rap just isn't as dominant as it once was.

Comments

Millennials coined the term "Adulting"... its been around since heckin doggo was a meme. Mainstream rap is pretty ass nowadays, but I think that's most genres. If anything the broadening of who chooses what music is "popular" really made me realize most people just like bad music.

I had forgotten entirely about Z100 for…at least 10-15 years.

I blame Rap for not seeking actual talented artists and just went to the boonies of major cities and picked a random person….
