Bonus #310 - Winning The Lottery: The WRONG WAY? (Extra Dose)

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/jtkNM_Q29aw

Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day! One of the most popular Christmas stocking stuffers/gifts in cards is lottery and scratch tickets. Did you win anything over the holidays? If you did... don't tell the Internet, unless you want to hear an endless stream of opinions on what you should do with it! Enjoy this video, which is actually a video-and-a-half, don't leave at the first ending, I've got more for you! It's the first bonus video of 2026!

Buckley looks at two stories about recent lottery winners. First: a woman won a "Winner for Life" scratch card lotto and decided to take the $1000 a week over the lump sum of a million dollars, and of course everyone on the Internet had opinions about how stupid she was! Second: Don't go anywhere at the "end" of the video, because we check out the story of the woman who DID take the lump sum after winning a Powerball Jackpot, and had over 2/3rds of it taken by the government, and people were very upset that she "only" got $500 million.

$1k/ week is about as much as I make as a software developer in greater Cincinnati area... that'd be so cash (literally and figuratively)

The crazy thing is I basically earn what she Brenda made in the lottery. Difference is where I live and how fast that money goes away when you have a car payment and rent. I'd probably take the lump sum, just to get ahead bills and all that for a year, give the rest to family and friends so they can do the same, and get back to my life as it is. I really don't want a cheat code to success, but I would not mind one that relieves me of stress.

Considering you’re more likely to be struck by lightning twice than win the lotto, it’s amazing how jealous and bitter people get over it

Yeah, if you knew that every single week, $1000 is going into your bank account, you know you'll basically always have a roof over your head and food to eat. That really takes away a lot of stress in life.

The brain dead reactions to her choosing the weekly payout is to be expected from current twitter… $4000 a month is enough to sit back and relax. As a bit of an addict, if I got that lump sum, I know that I’d piss it away, as would most people who win the fuckin lottery.
