Impressive! Reaction to Pentatonix "12 Days of Christmas"

Our first ever listen to Pentatonix is with their performance of "12 Days of Christmas". After watching this, we are certainly intrigued to know more about them. Hopefully, our viewers will give us more info and other song suggestions from them. YouTube being the Scrooge again by blocking this one.

Thanks for the info. The layering explains a lot. Reminds me of the guy on the Police Academy movies who could do some crazy sounds.

Hehe. Coach is almost right. In this particular recording Kevin does do both drumming and singing (they layered it in the studio). But yes, Kevin does all percussion and some other ambient sounds with his mouth. Also the guy with the bass voice does indeed do bass stuff when he is not the main vocal. As well as the rest of the group. Acapella means everything is done with the human voice. Sure, there is sometimes some cheating with recording (layering and such) to make it more interesting when recording, but they can perform pretty much all of their songs live and sound awesome as well. I highly recommend checking out some more Pentatonix, they are a really cool group. Also, if you want to check out more cool acapella stuff I recommend Voiceplay and Home Free (two other great acapella groups).

That's just crazy that they can make those sounds with no instruments. We hate that this one got blocked. Hopefully their label isn't aggressive at blocking. We may try another one at some point to see if we can get it on YouTube. Thanks for the info!

Coach

Coach not being always right. ;) One guy (Kevin) does most of the beats and instrumental sounds, the lower voice guy (Matt) does the bass beats and other intrumentals. All of them join in to make it sound like an actual band.. They've won 3 Grammys for singing - without instruments. In fact, they're so good that the Grammys created a new category for acapella just so that they could give them one. I've been a Pentaholic since the beginning, so I can assure you that they do, indeed, make all of the instrumentals with their voices alone - that's what acapella is. What Coach may like is their version of Bohemian Rhapsody - no instruments, but fantastic. Adding that, if you get some Pentatonix up on your YouTube channel, and the Pentaholics find you, you'll add a very large and loyal fanbase to your viewership. Plus, I garauntee that you'll like them once you get into them.
