BTVS was so important to me when I was younger I can definitely picture a teen MC that discovered the show after leaving Fernweh and made it their whole personality for a while.

Marjorie left an impression on B that comes up in Book Two, but despite that, B seems willing to give her another chance. ๐ค If that's due to their sweet nature ('out of touch' is a kinder thing she has been called) or because of Marjorie's knowledge/track record with the spriggan is up for you all to determine while reading! ๐Perhaps, it's even a third thing! But, yes, Bee does seem to be trying to select their words carefully here, even if their first impression of Marjorie was rough around the edges. (Also, hurtful.) It appears like they're trying! ๐ซ It might surprise some MCs after that first meeting and B's self-esteem, etc. S has more reactions if you go harsh on her during this section, which always makes me adore them more. Cruel MCs can be wild at times with what they say and do. (The 'mean' variation in Book Two is one I'll likely share later; it's on sight for both of them. Marjorie mentions coal. ๐) Oh! I don't think so? But I love the connection you're underscoring. ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ (There was a comment about Marjorie's name linking to 'marjoram', which is important for its properties/folklore.) That Greek myth is heartbreaking, much like if we consider her first character introduction and how Book One ends.

2025-03-15 21:56:18 +0000 UTCMarjorie came on a bit *strong* when first meeting Bee and it's lovely that they doesn't seem to hold any hard feelings or wariness of Marjorie. ๐ฅบ But with their Wonder Woman shirt and being a Buffy fan, maybe they believe in meeting weirdness with understanding and quips instead of cruelty. I cannot sometimes with cruel MC, S's underwhelmed look was deserved at that "joke." (also, in terms of references, has anyone compared Marjorie to Cassandra of Greek legend yet ๐

She does like flowers and gardening, having a green thumb that we can sort of see with her sunflower bucket hat but also in her room (her POV, Book One ) and where you'll find her later in Book Two. ๐ She would be delighted by your RV's gift, possibly shooting you a knowing smile if you go for 'marjorams'. She is likely to gift you your own chosen bloom, if not seeds/a fledgling plant, without batting an eyelash and offering to help if you need gardening pointers. I'm now more eager for you to learn something later in this book about her; she says something rather touching. ๐๐

Ohmygosh, okay, I can't spoil in these comments, but if the Returning Visitors ever calls Marjorie 'grandmother' or at least treats her in that capacity, she would start tearing up, possibly quivering some at their kindness. ๐ฅฒ Given how cruel and isolating the town has been to her, this chance to have an honorary grandchild would mean a lot to her. I'm sure you unlocked her heartbreaking candy variation. We'll learn more! ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ

There are a few caustic, cruel, or mean options that I'm like >.> at when re-reading back through after some time away from a given choice set. If you were mean to Marjorie in Book One, it comes up in your future interactions with her where the MC roasts her for being all alone, but Marjorie won't just take it. Morgan's puns will be fun! ๐Can't wait to see how Mal reacts to them.
