Ruby closes the country club's fancy brunch menu, glancing up to find Charles lingering by her side of the table instead of taking his proper seat across from her. Fortunately, this patio area has space between its tables. "A scrape," she breezily answers. "Now sit down."
He does so by pulling out the chair beside her so its wrought iron legs loudly drag across the sealed cement. Her sunglasses render her eye roll ineffective, but Charles's grin broadens—

sometimes I'm silly because when I think of R yearning too hard, I get sensitive; coping with humor just like some of these MCs out here 😔 but!! You can't blame me when you think of how uncertain R is when it comes to the MC's - the hope that's only tentative when they can't read the MC's feelings; when they think they're the only one feeling a hard impact. the way R averts their eyes in the kitchen, even when they know the MC has been watching them all night. (No glimpse of Ruby's blue eyes!!!) the way R expects the MC to retract at this point!!! LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO? and freezing at the MC's barely-there touch 😭 I keep thinking on a fully romanced route, R might have lifted their own hand to trap the MC's hand against their face, leaned into the touch to make it a full face cradle. or the tender care shown might even illicit one of R's blushes. 🥺 ANYWAY. tentative R is always surprisingly good at hurting me because I play an intensely opposite way with Ruby/Jam (also, let's not consider that I catch up on denial-R every so often. i'm certainly not thinking about it)
