Podcast Status Update
Added 2021-10-28 23:16:25 +0000 UTCHey everybody, Sean here. I wish I had better news but as loyal fans and patrons I thought you deserved an update as to the status of the podcast. Steve, Yogi, Andy and producer Xris have all resigned. After some back and forth discussion as to what that means for remaining ownership stakes, Steve and Yogi stated they no longer wish to be contacted about the podcast or involved in any capacity. This leaves me and Andy to run the Patreon, SoundCloud, and website and to handle any other needed decision making by whatever consensus we can come up with.
For now Andy and I have agreed that the Patreon will remain and all existing Patreon episodes will be made available at the $1/month tier. We feel a little silly charging anything for a dead podcast but there are still server, SoundCloud, and other costs to keep all the episodes and the website online so if you want to throw us $1 that helps offset those. We’re very determined that all episodes and information from our almost 4 year run will remain available for the foreseeable future.
I very much did and still do want to make new episodes of Grubstakers. After discussion with the guys it was all agreed that it just wouldn’t be Grubstakers without at least *some* of the original hosts. If I can’t convince any of them to come back with me in the next few months I’ll independently launch some sort of new podcast early 2022. This hasn’t even reached the planning stages at this point but eventually whether it’s with or without Grubstakers I will have to return to my natural calling of reading Wikipedia articles into a microphone.
I can’t pretend there aren’t tensions between us but I have no animosity or ill will towards the other hosts. This podcast and everything I’ve gotten as a result of it wouldn’t exist without all of us and if they don’t want to do it anymore that’s their decision and I’ll respect it and wish them the best. I remain extremely proud of the episodes we made together and I think the great majority of them will stand the test of time. Additionally getting to find and know you the fans has been the thrill of my life. Every message saying that our podcast got you through a hard work day made me feel like I was doing something worthwhile with my life. You’re an incredible, intelligent, and eclectic collection of individuals from all over the world who taught us so much about subjects we never knew anything about. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we love you and we know we have the greatest fans in the world.
Andy and I will post any future updates here. Be well and thank you for everything.
Sean

2021-12-05 07:57:16 +0000 UTCI just subbed after listening free for awhile. Looks like I succeeded in crushing you all by consuming only non-paywalled content. Now I feel bad. I'll support you guys in the future. I'm also supporting you now to the tune of $1 a month. That's something. Seriously though, great show.

2021-11-17 16:12:53 +0000 UTCI didn’t listen enough to be able to tell the differences between any one other than the main person who seemed to have done most of the research. I know sometimes two people split research duties. What was the makeup of responsibilities for the podcast that each person had? As far as I could tell, Yogi just did some jokes. No offense to him. What about the other three?

2021-11-01 19:23:16 +0000 UTCHaha is the joke here because it’s a minor thing that was part of an episode but also intriguing or something else?

2021-10-29 15:57:04 +0000 UTCSean, honestly i love your voice and mannerisms and felt like you centered the podcast in a space i found fun and quirky but some of your persistient meanness on mic to Andy definitely made for uncomfortable moments. I dont pretend to really know your relationship I think i just want to distinguish it was that over amy of your twitter antics that offended my sensibilities
2021-10-29 08:55:21 +0000 UTCsorry to hear, this was my only patreon sub. really appreciated the pod over the last year and hope you all can find success in future projects. wanna share the first take i came up with on the podcast's social makeup Yogi: Chad Sean: Virgin Andy: Virgin Steve: maybe asexual? 2021-10-29 00:03:39 +0000 UTCAfter a significant amount of clicking all the patreon episodes should be available at the $1/month tier now. In the event you're on that tier and are unable to access any episode please comment here or send a message and I'll fix it. -Sean
2021-10-28 23:56:22 +0000 UTCThanks for making all the great episodes together. Sorry to hear you guys are parting ways.

2021-10-28 23:25:07 +0000 UTCI can't even pretend to know the whole background story, but your attitude in prior eps, this post, and the entire other cast resigning really should make you take a good long look in the mirror.
