Vellum Playground - 02 - Slide - Combining Vellum Simulations

Let's explore the possibilities of combining Vellum soft bodies and grain simulation inside a DOP network workflow. This time we will use some of the Vellum shelf tools instead of manually setting up each node.

We will start by modelling the slide and the ball pit. Tetrahedral soft bodies are good for simulating high resolution objects by creating a low poly version. After simulating the soft body sliding down the slide, we will use point deform to pin the high resolution mesh onto the low poly version. A simple grains setup will serve as a ball pit. Both simulations will be combined in one DOP network.

During the process we take a closer look at friction values inside Vellum simulations to control the behavior of the balls.

Ah, got it. Thanks for your quick reply.

There is no real reason. It´s how I like to work. I use the match size to put it on the floor and the transform to shift it around. In Houdini there are so many situations when there is no "right" way. It´s so flexible that you can go many different ways most of the time.

Quick noob question: Why use the two "match size" nodes for the ball pit? Instead of using one transform on the box node? I really want to get behind this. Thank you, Roland!
