Upcoming Projects, and a Break from the Web of Secrets Series

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reading Web of Aeons! Overall, I was happy with how this book ended. I set out to make a more Akari-centric entry after giving Kalden and Relia so much page time in Book 3, and I personally think that aspect was a success.

I’d on planned on a total of eight books for this series, so that puts us at the midpoint now with the conclusion of Book 4. Until now, I’ve only ever written ever written a trilogy (Aeonica) so this is already my longest running series to date, both in terms of total books, and word count. I’ve already started the initial planning for Book 5 (working title: Web of Chaos) and I think that’s shaping up to be a solid book as well.

With that said, I’ll be taking a break from writing new books in the Web of Secrets series, and it will be longer than my previous breaks. Possibly six months to a year, but I’m not 100% sure yet.

I hope this didn’t show in the writing, but I was actually getting a little burnt out with this series toward the second half of Book 4. I even thought of taking a break prematurely at a few points, but pushed through and promised myself I could take a longer break when the book was done.

Rest assured though, there's no risk of me ghosting anyone or dropping the series entirely. I just need to work on something else for a little while, and I'll keep everyone informed along the way.

So here’s my plan for the next few months:

1: Write a final draft of Web of Secrets Book 1 and publish the ebook/paperback on Amazon.

This would all happen in 2024, ideally. And I’ll use something like BookFunnel to get free copies to ARC readers, beta readers, or anyone who’s on Patreon.

Speaking of which, the final draft probably won’t go on Royal Road due to continuity differences, so if you want to be a beta reader, just send me your email address in whatever way works for you. There will probably be a Google Doc at some point.

2: Start working on my next series (working title: Questers’ Valley)

This is a cozy, slice-of-life litRPG that I’m describing as Stardew Valley meets Final Fantasy VII. I actually disliked litRPGs until earlier this year when I read All the Skills by Honour Rae, and the genre has been growing on me ever since. I still can’t get into most portal fantasies though, so I’ll definitely be doing a story about fantasy characters who discover a system in their own world.

I’ve started writing the blurb for this, so I’ll probably post that soon. I’d like to start posting chapters on Patreon and Royal Road this year, but I don’t know if I’ll finish the first book before I start posting Web of Chaos. I’ll have to wait and see how things go!

As always, thanks for reading!
