Looking back at '24 and forward to '25

This last year has meant so much to me. I am so incredibly overwhelmed by all the people who have signed up and followed along.

As most of you know, at the end of '23 I was made redundant, so for the year Reboot has gone from a hobby to be a primary source of income. Without the generocity of you, the amazing people who signed up and purchased things, the outlook could have been a bleak one.

The journey through the year has been interesting, and I'd like to take some words here to recap some of what was achieved.

Demos! Demos of upcoming games have been released for patrons, such as "Rocketeer Rebounced", "Rebooteroids II" and a few other bits and pieces.

Caravan Editions! "Rebooteroids" started the ball rolling, and then "Kobayashi Maru" and "Biopede" followed, adding new gameplay modes to these games.

RAPTOR API got a long overdue update (we still have work to do for the next release) and Jag Studio took full advantage of the add-ons. We will continue to work on JagStudio and add functionality as time goes on.

The Patreon LED cart giveaway happens every other month, initially was only going to be for a year, but we'll keep that going. It's fun, the people who have won seem to have liked the games, plus its a nice way of giving something additional back to everyone. The December winner was announced on the discord server, and the next will be announced in February. Top-Tier members are automatically enrolled into the draw, and google-sheets-random-pick-a-cell decides who wins!

We scooped the 6th Annual Atari Homebrew Awards 1st place with "Rocket Ranger", and the "Doom: Slayer Edition" team took the WIP Homebrew award, thanks to everyone for voting for us!

We also started producing some merch over at teepublic, if you would like some reboot gear head over here: https://www.teepublic.com/user/reboot-games

In April we became a publisher! We have been periodically releasing games as phsyical media, and will continue to do this as long as people keep supporting the efforts. All current releases are available from here: https://www.reboot-games.com/rebootnews/order-physical-games/

April also saw the release of "Mad Professor Mariarti" from Piko, continuing a long-standing partnership of working with them to bring more games to the system. There will be more to come in the future!

We have also partnered with several other teams to produce new games, such as "Tenebra" (Thanks, Haplo!) and also bring older games that never saw a release, like "Simone" (thanks RISC games!) and "Painter: Definitive Edition" (Thanks, Sinister Development!) and are currently working on getting "Maze!" (Thanks, Dr Typo!) ready for shipping in early '25.

Starting in 2025 we have some exciting announcements and some rather interesting unreleased titles to bring to you in this format. We have also obtained permission to port some really cool stuff over and there will be announcements as we are able throughout the coming year that I absolutely cannot wait to tell you all about. Stay tuned!

"Last Strike" got a fresh overhaul and got released as a digital download with the new name, "Last Strike DX" and "Zombie Harvest" was released in November.

The highlight of the year was undoubtedly "Jumping at Shadows" being completed by Ander Lex (It has been, and continues to be, an absolute pleaseure to work with you and call you a friend) and myself, and subsequently released at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, and is now available for order at AtariAge: https://store.atariage.com/products/jumping-at-shadows-atari-jaguar

We also recently made an announcement regarding digital editions and upgrades, see the post here: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/330925-jumping-at-shadows-wip-platform-game-from-reboot-games/page/15/#findComment-5589388

Ander and myself are currently finishing up "Rocketeer: Rebounced" and have started work on a new project which some of you may have seen some WIP images from. More on that as and when!

The end of the year saw an announcement of us teaming up with Songbird Productions again, who we haven't worked with since "Loopz" a few years back. Coming in 2024 will be a port of Vroom! to the Atari Jaguar! Such a great game, looking forward to sharing it with everyone!

It has been an amazing run, and we look forward to talking to you all in the coming year, thank you all once again for your continued support, I look forward to talking to you on discord and having fun with this quirky and amazing system called the Jaguar!

I'm sure I forgot many things in this post, in the end, it doesn't matter. The only really important message I wanted to convey was "Thank You" to each and every one of the people who have supported Reboot in 2024. Don't think it goes unnoticed, or is taken for granted, I don't think I can say thank you enough.

To all, have a fantastic holiday season and a prosperous and happy new year! Reboot will be back with a few 2x32bits of fun in the coming year.

.....and remember, Push The Button!
