Information Thread for Potential New Tomb Kings Units

Good day everyone! Tomb Kings are very close so its time to reveal massive Lore article about their roster and what we may add in the very near future! Article covered by loremaster PaulH so there is pretty much nothing missed!

Radious TW Mods are among the most comprehensive and complex overhaul mods for Warhammer 1 and 2, we are not afraid to go deep and be complex. No other WH mod offers that. Warhammer world is rich and very old, we study lore very much, for example our WH2 lore articles about custom units we have created:

Skaven - https://www.patreon.com/posts/information-for-14058536

Lizardmen- https://www.patreon.com/posts/information-for-11407960

And now to the Tomb Kings:

The Tomb Kings  are the sovereign and undying rulers of all Nehekhara. They are all that  remains of an ancient and far-flung civilization that had long ago  vanished from history, its people long dead and their cities naught but  dried ash and shifting sand. These unliving Kings and his personal  retinue of warriors and priest are all that remains to remember their  passing. Since then, the Tomb Kings have ever reign from their  necropolis as they had always done, attempting to imitate the life they  once knew and loved.

Lord and Heroes

Acolytes =  The Mortuary Cult has been a very large influential priesthood in the  Land of the Dead for centuries. Acolytes to the Cult have to study long  and hard before they can assume the mantle of Liche Priest.
http://www.lustria-online.com/thread...-issues.15973/ Town Cryer Issue 18

Hierophant = Most powerful Liche Priests.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Liche_Priest

Liche Priests = Obsessed with both the veneration of the dead  and the search for eternal life, the Liche Priests finally discovered a  way they could live forever. However over the millennia of their  unnatural lifespans, the Liche Priests' bodies have decayed, forcing  them to use embalming techniques and other methods to keep their fragile  corpse-like forms in one piece.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Liche_Priest

Master of Arrows = It became tradition for a newly crowned  king to honour the greatest marksmen amongst his legions with his royal  bow. This chosen warrior was bestowed the title of Master of Arrows, a  position that held much prestige among the common soldiery.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Skeleton_Archers

Master of Chariots = These scarred warriors were typically a  minor blood relation to the royal family, such as a cousin, and thus had  the aristocratic superiority to back up his years of fighting  experience. The Master of Chariots was a ruthless disciplinarian, and  under his command, the noble-born charioteers were drilled until they  were elite warriors fit to fight in the king's name.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...leton_Chariots

Master of Horse = These warriors would then spend the rest of  their lives fighting from the saddle, drilled under the tutelage of the  king's Master of Horse - a grizzled veteran bearing the scars of several  bloody campaigns.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...leton_Horsemen

Necrotech = In battle, Necrotects lead the Tomb King's  regiments like the work gangs of old. They exude the same aura of hatred  they possessed in life, and their mere presence instils a magical state  of fury in the Undead warriors of Nehekhara.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Necrotect

Tomb Heralds = Obedient to a fault, these mummified warriors  cut down their lord's enemies without pause or hesitation, slicing  through flesh and bone with every strike until all their foes lie dead  or dying at their feet.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Herald

Tomb Kings = They are the sovereign and undying rulers of all  Nehekhara. They are all that remains of an ancient and far-flung  civilization that had long ago vanished from history, its people long  dead and their cities naught but dried ash and shifting sand.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...King#Rulership

Tomb Prince = They are the sons of the Tomb Kings. Each of the  kings of ancient Nehekhara had many heirs, doubtless the result of  their extensive harems, but only one could succeed their father to the  throne.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Prince

Animated Warriors

Infantry

Asp Archers = The  magical item Asp Bow was found in a Khemri tomb. This assumes that  there could be more of these, enough to field an elite unit of archers.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Asp_Bow
http://www.lustria-online.com/thread...-issues.15973/ Town Cryer Issue 18

Guardians of the Casket of Souls = The casket has two guardians armed with great weapons, it seems like it could be a separate unit as well.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Casket_of_Souls

Mummies = Mummies always have a will of their own. Indeed,  their will is so strong they can command lesser forms of Undead to do  their bidding. The few Mummies that dwell in the Empire are content to  lie still in their sarcophagi until something disturbs their rest.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Mummy

Nehekharan Javelins = These warriors throw javelins equipped  with a becket; a string wound around the javelin. When it is thrown, the  javelin spins like a bullet increasing its accuracy.
http://www.lustria-online.com/thread...-issues.15973/ Town Cryer Issue 18

Phalanx = Alcadizaar gathered legions from every other  Nehekharan city and forged them into a single massed army that he led  against Lahmia. Thousands of chariots raced across the land ahead of  vast regiments of archers, mighty phalanxes of spearmen and battalions  of giant war-statues.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_King

Skeleton Archers = The kings of ancient Nehekhara knew the  importance of delivering death from afar, and all of them maintained  legions of highly disciplined archers. Loyal soldiers for all eternity,  Skeleton Archers continue to practice their ways of war as they did in  centuries long past. Could be called Nehekharan Archers instead.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Skeleton_Archers

Skeletal Slaves = Necrotects were stern taskmasters who  oversaw tens of thousands of Nehekharans as they toiled under the  blazing sun. Under their gaze, an army of masons carved huge slabs of  rock out of cliff faces before vast columns of slaves dragged the stones  across the desert and hauled them into position.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Necrotect

Skeleton Warriors = Basically Skeleton Warriors that the  Vampire Counts have, except these aren’t mindless automatons but have  some semblance of duty and tactics. They wield sword and shields. Could  be called Nehekharan Warriors instead, or just Tomb Warriors. Other  variants wield spears and shields.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...s_(Tomb_Kings)

Tomb Guard = The Tomb Guard lived in luxury, each having a  dozen slaves to tend to their wargear so they could keep their  attentions focused on their sacred duties - the preservation of the  king's life and dominion. Worldly wealth was the least reward granted to  these warriors, for in respect of their position, they were honoured  with the privilege of sharing his immortality. Sword and Shield. Other  variants use spear and shield.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Guard

Tomb Guardians = A bodyguard unit listed in the Citadel  Journal magazine on Issue 13, Page 39, as such they may not be fully  loreful but I’m including them anyway. They’re elite skeleton warriors  who use halberds in combat.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/223078336/Citadel-Journal-13

Cavalry

Necropolis Knights = They  are the elite warriors who ride atop giant snake-shaped statues. They  are tethered to their mounts by a sharp hook, held firm in one mummified  hand as the other wields a heavy spear that carves through mortal  flesh. Their monstrous mounts shatter bones with every swipe of their  tails and sink scimitar-sized fangs deep into soft flesh.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...opolis_Knights

Skeleton Horse Archers = The horse archers of ancient  Nehekhara were very different to the other living warriors in the king's  army. They were not soldiers, raised and trained within the vast cities  of Nehekhara, but nomadic tribesmen that dwelt in the deep desert.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi..._Horse_Archers

Skeleton Horsemen = These skeletal riders drive their heavy  spears into their foes with bone-jarring force, using well-aimed thrusts  that punch clean through torsos and rip open throats in a spray of  blood.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...leton_Horsemen

Skull-Viper Knights = Same as the Necropolis Knights, but with a necroserpant that follows the Skull-Viper version listed in the wiki page.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...opolis_Knights

Qu’aph Knights = The standard version of Necropolis Knights but with a new name perhaps, with the mount version being that of the qu’aph variety.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...opolis_Knights

Goblinoids

Dust Goblins = Teeming  Hordes of Goblins that enter into Khemri rarely leave alive. Once they  have been slain, the Liche Priests will raise them up and incorporate  them into their ever-growing armies. However, unlike Humans, Elves and  Dwarves, Goblins corpses retain a small part of their mischievous minds,  and many find their way back to their homeland, joining the next  WAAAAGH! to step up in their area.
From Warhammer Chronicle, Page 48.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/313681727...hronicles-2003

Dust Goblin Little Big’uns = These changes are usually  contributed when an Greenskins finds an opponent that is both larger and  stronger than even he is. These Greenskins are usually called Little  Big 'Uns for the Dust Goblins, whom had all grown to such a size that  they tower over the rest of their tribe and are decked-out with some of  the best armour and weapons around, before they were killed and raised  from the dead. Blow pipes.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Big_%27Un
https://www.scribd.com/doc/313681727...hronicles-2003

Dustlings = The smallest of the goblinoids, these swarm over  the enemy, biting, slapping, tickling, anything they can to annoy or  hurt the enemy.
Found in White Dwarf Issue 264

Morbids = Teeming Hordes of Goblins that enter into Khemri  rarely leave alive.
These wield sword and shield, they are stronger than normal Dust Goblins.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/313681727...hronicles-2003

Morbid Little Big’uns = These changes are usually contributed  when an Greenskins finds an opponent that is both larger and stronger  than even he is. These Greenskins are usually called Little Big 'Uns for  the Dust Goblins, whom had all grown to such a size that they tower  over the rest of their tribe and are decked-out with some of the best  armour and weapons around, before they were killed and raised from the  dead. Sword and shield.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/313681727...hronicles-2003
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Big_%27Un

Tomb Squigs = ”The first sign of a Tomb Squig infestation is  usually the white fungus and mushrooms found growing nearby. Tomb Squigs  feed upon the remains of the dead, finding bones particularly  appetising. Often found in Dwarfen tombs that have been broken open and  looted, they are sometimes also found in graveyards, where they burrow  through the soft soil, going from corpse to corpse. Slightly smaller  than regular Squigs, they are pasty white or pale grey in colour and  have small, blood red eyes. They possess amazingly powerful jaws, which  they use to break open stone sarcophagi and to bite through the  ceremonial armour Dwarfs often bury their dead in. Tomb Squigs can  really ruin a tomb robber’s day—not only do they present a threat to  life and limb, they can also destroy valuable weapons and armour hidden  in the tomb.”
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Squigs
https://www.scribd.com/doc/313681727...hronicles-2003

Guardian Statues

Asaph Ushabti = Carved  into the likenesses of the gods and goddesses of Nehekhara, Ushabti  stand as guardian statues around the perimeters of the necropolises and  within the passageways of the great pyramids of the Tomb Kings. These  have the carved likeness of the Asp, Asaph’s chosen form. These can use  great weapons, or great bows.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ushabti

Blood-Asp Necroserpents = A Necroserpent that follows the Blood-Asp version listed in the wiki page.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...opolis_Knights

Djaf Ushabti = In the ancient language of Nehekhara, the name  Ushabti translates literally as 'chosen of the gods'. The divinities do  not consent to any mere mortal inhabiting statues made in their image.  Only the most powerful souls, those of particularly heroic champions,  are judged worthy to animate an Ushabti's sculpted form. These have the  carved likeness of the Jackal, Djaf’s chosen form. These can use great  weapons or great bows.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ushabti

Phakth Ushabti = Ushabti are possessed by the souls of  Nehekhara's mightiest heroes. Ushabti stride through the battlefield  like gods of war, infused with the temperament and strenght of their  form's pantheon deity. These have the carved likeness of the Hawk,  Phakth’s chosen form. These can use great weapons or great bows.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ushabti

Ramhotep's Marble Army = Ramhotep worked for over a century to  complete the restoration of his Marble Army, an awe-inspiring host of  hundreds of towering constructs.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ramhotep

Qu’aph Necroserpents = Though the Necroserpents standing  sentinel outside some mortuary temples depict images of skull-vipers or  double-headed blood-asps, the vast majority of these statues are created  in the image of a hooded Khemrian cobra, for Qu’aph, the Nehekharan god  of Cobras, took this as his corporeal form in the Great Land before the  coming of Man.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...opolis_Knights

Skull-Viper Necroserpents = A Necroserpant that follows the Skull-Viper version listed in the wiki page.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...opolis_Knights

Animated Beasts

Animated Elephants = From the warhammer rulebook, 8th edition.
https://i.imgur.com/Yfh68dO.png

Basethi = ”They are deadly combatants, retaining some of their  animal cunning and regal bearing. Guardian Undead similar to the  Bastethi have also been found amongst the ancient barrows of the Old  World, particularly in the Border Princes. Scholars still debate whether  these barrows are evidence of a Nehekharan colony in the Old World or  if the primitive inhabitants of the region were merely imitating the  practices of the great civilisation to the south.”
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Bastethi

Carrion = They have bodies that are decayed and bloated with  death. Putrefied ropes of muscle hang from their frames as they fly with  slow, sorrowful strokes of tattered wings. Bones poke through the  rotten skin of Carrion, and gashes in their distended bellies often  expose the skeletal contents of their last rotting meal.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Carrion

Greater Basethi = ”They are the mummified remains of the  Temple cats revered as sacred by the ancient Nehekharans. These Undead  felines are reservoirs of necromantic power, causing other Undead near  them to become more dangerous, even raising nearby corpses as Zombies or  Skeletons. Necromancers sometimes seek out Greater Bastethi in order to  strip them of their power or use them as servants, but to date, only  the Undead Liche Priests of Nehekhara have managed to secure their  loyalty.”
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Bastethi

Sokth Scorpion Swarm = Of all the dead creatures that make up  the bulk of a Tomb Swarm, the creature was the black-clawed desert  scorpion. The scorpion is the form chosen by Sokth, the god of treachery  and murderers.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Swarms

Tomb Kings Undead Scorpion = A gigantic scorpion from Warmaster, in the picture it has a man in its pincer and he looks pretty tiny, so it must be immense.
From White Dwarf Issue 288

Tomb Swarms = Swarms of small, undead critters that swarm an enemy.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Swarms

Usirian Khepra Swarm = Of all the dead creatures that make up  the bulk of a Tomb Swarm, the flesh-eating, skull-caparaced Khepra  beetles were believed to be messengers of Usirian, god of the  Underworld. They were his agents in the mortal world, and through their  eyes would Usirian know the sins of all men.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Swarms

 Monstrous Animations

Dread Abyssals = The  priests of ancient Nehekhara taught that upon death, the spirit  traveled to the Underworld - the fabled Realm of Souls. After passing  through the nether kingdom's gates, the spirits of the dead were  separated according to their worthiness in life. Those the gods deemed  to have lived a laudable existence entered a golden paradise, while the  cursed or wretched were instead cast to the dreadful lower depths, to be  hunted and devoured by the Hounds of Usirian - the dread abyssals.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dread_Abyssals

Hierotitan = This is a gigantic animated statue whose face is  carved in the likeness of one of the Nehekharan deities of death. These  idols radiate a sinister aura of magic, and it is said that those who  stand within their shadow can hear the cruel laughter of ancient gods.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Hierotitan

Khemric Titan = A gigantic carrion beetle construction.
http://i.imgur.com/P9AKUB7.png

Khemrian Warsphinx = Some Warsphinxes have scorpion tails  filled with potent venom, whilst others breathe fire, immolating their  foes in blazing conflagrations. It is rare for a new Warsphinx to be  constructed, and most that are seen prowling alongside the Tomb Kings'  armies have existed for thousands of years.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...rian_Warsphinx

Mummified Crocodile = Ships made from wood and iron are not  the only vessels upon the seas of the Warhammer world. Boats of bone,  fur, and scale also ply the oceans, bearing sailors of many races to  destinations all across the Old World and beyond. According to legend,  one of the proud Tomb Kings of Khemri commands a huge crocodile made of  mummified bones to transport his retinue along the coast.
https://web.archive.org/web/20080115...ip/default.htm

Necrolith Colossi= Listed in Warhammer Chronicles, Page 49.  Also known as Bone Giants. Equipment that can be used include shields,  great weapons and giant bows.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/313681828...hronicles-2004
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...olith_Colossus

Pha’a Necrosphinx = Necrosphinxes are nightmarish beasts of  destruction that glide through the air in bounding leaps before falling  amongst their terrified prey, scything down the living as mortals reap  the wheat of the field. Devoted to Pha’a.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Necrosphinx

Re-animated Thunder Lizards = In life the men of Rasetra were  known for their skill and savagery in battle, from years of fending off  Lizardmen raiders. Their chariots were pulled by great jungle lizards,  and they were known to use Thunder Lizards as beasts of war in larger  battles.
http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Rasetra
http://www.miniwargaming.com/content...r-lizard-rules (Unofficial)
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum...st/288259.page (Unofficial)

Royal Warsphinx = Some kings even had a Warsphinx constructed  to stand watch over their own sacred sarcophagi, and these were  especially lavish and ornate. Upon awakening, a Tomb King would ride his  royal Warsphinx into battle, leading his army out of the burial  chambers and into the blinding light of day.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...rian_Warsphinx

Sepulchral Stalkers = They are statues that have the body of a  snake and the upper torso of a man. Atop the statues' curved spines sit  inhuman skulls, inside which glow eerie, baleful lights. Lying beneath  the surface of the desert, they wait for intruders to pass by before  launching a devastating ambush.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...chral_Stalkers

Sphinx = From the Warmaster game, page 45 of the Warmaster magazine.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/239419438...azine-Issue-04

Tomb Scorpion = Those Tomb Scorpions that respond to the  incantations will travel for leagues beneath the ground before clawing  their way to the surface and falling upon their enemies with razor-sharp  claws and stinging tails.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Scorpion

Usekph Necrosphinx = Necrosphinxes are nightmarish beasts of  destruction that glide through the air in bounding leaps before falling  amongst their terrified prey, scything down the living as mortals reap  the wheat of the field. Devoted to Usekph.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Necrosphinx

 War Machines

Bone Thrower = Looks like a bigger Screaming Skull Catapult to me, it’s from Warmaster magazine model list on page 40.
https://www.scribd.com/doc/239418196...azine-Issue-01

Casket of Souls = When the seals are broken and the lid of a  Casket of Souls is opened, blinding light spills across the battlefield  as countless souls scream into the air, seeking freedom from the madness  and torment of their confinement. Such an escape will never come while  the casket is intact, for the pull of the damned sarcophagus is so great  that it draws the souls back within no matter how hard they try to  fight it.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Casket_of_Souls

Lybaras Airship = During life, Lybaras was a city of scholars  and engineers, its priest-kings known for their relatively  un-ostentatious style of dress. They were the first to construct the  Tomb Scorpions and Bone Giants powering them with steam, pulleys, and  magic. Parts of their armies sometimes travelled by air-ship, a  primitive hot-air balloon.
http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Lybaras

Rasetra Chariots = In life the men of Rasetra were known for  their skill and savagery in battle, from years of fending off Lizardmen  raiders. Their chariots were pulled by great jungle lizards.
http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Rasetra

Screaming Skull Catapults = The catapults of the eternal army  are akin to the stone throwers of other races, but instead of flinging  rocks at the foe, they throw volleys of flaming skulls. Liche Priests  cast terrible curses upon these skulls, enchanting them so they scream  hideously through the air, rising to a deafening crescendo before they  strike their target.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...kull_Catapults

Skeleton Chariots = Their advance is heralded by a cloud of  dust thrown high into the air as they drive across the sands. Moments  later, units of these deadly machines crest the dunes, their wheels  whirring as they careen towards their foe.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...leton_Chariots

The King’s Chariots = The fighting quality of the king's  charioteers was a reflection of his own power and martial prowess. As  such, the king entrusted the training of these regiments to the Master  of Chariots.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...leton_Chariots

War-Barques = ”Above them, bone-ribbed war-barques sail  majestically above the sands in mockery of the laws of nature, banks of  oars stirring the dry air”
https://us.v-cdn.net/5022456/uploads...21obclr00i.png

Zandri Screaming Skull Catapults = At battle's end, the  catapult crews scoured for the bodies of slain foes, decapitating any  they found and carrying the severed heads back to be cursed by Zandri's  Liche Priests. However, such was not the fate of the rebel kings.  Behedesh decreed these traitors were to be mummified alive and strapped  to his catapults so that they could watch the destruction of their  cities. Even now, many centuries later, some catapults still have  withered corpses bound to their timbers.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...kull_Catapults

 Regiments of Renown

Jackal Squadron = During the battle against Nagash under Alcadizaar, the city provided their famed Jackal Squadron. I’ve no idea what it is.
http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Mahrak

Legion of Phakth = These ushabti were guardians of the Temple  of Phakth – the Hawk God of the sky and bringer of swift justice. They  were equipped with great bows from which they fired spear-sized arrows.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Legion_of_Phakth

Skull Guardians = Furthermore, Settra demanded that all the  guardians from the Charnel Valley to set forth across the desert. There  strode the Necrolith Colossi known as the Skull Guardians.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...es_of_Ramhotep

Those That Stalk Beneath the Sand = There were two formations  of sepulchral stalkers, to be released as a shock attack on any foe's  most formidable-looking formation, for any foe that caught even a  glimpse of these creatures would crumble to dust.
http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...neath_the_Sand

Usirian’s Keeper = Bone giant servant of Usirian, the faceless  Tomb King god of the underworld, in the Temple of the Vulture Lord  located in the Land of the Dead in Warhammer Online.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...racters#Undead

As you can see, list is massive and very complex and we will do once again our best to enhance Tomb Kings as we did all other factions!
