First illustration of the year! After all that Q&A fluff I felt like making something a little evil. I really do like to keep people guessing on where the story will go, and it's always fun to cover werewolves in mysterious red substances completely removed from any real-world implications. I realized pretty quick I had to extend this for Instagram (again), but oddly enough I always like how the piece turns out more when I'm forced to do that! The hand was drawn in a kinda unconventional way as a result and I'm vibing with it. Switched out the blood drip for a forest background, I'm always looking to make a piece more dynamic and usually proper backgrounds are the solution. I opted to go the comic-style route with it this time though, didn't want to get too in my own head about it. What I really loved about this one was getting to play with that lighting, I reaaally like how it looks in this and I discovered a lot of new things with it. The blue light is actually a yellow difference mode, isn't that awesome!?! I feel like blend modes go underutilized so often, and the coolest effects can be made entirely on accident just effing around with the program and trying things you would've never purposefully thought of otherwise. Half of my art process is unintentional, and I think that's rad! Makes it more special imo because it's harder to replicate.
As for the story implications of this one... mwahaha. Is this canon, is this just for fun, who knows! I just like playing with pretty colors, I swear... Since it's basically just a feature of my illustrations at this point, inspo for this piece is New Magic Wand by Tyler the Creator 🪄
