A very nice cosy and getting sleepy kind of song aaaahhhhh! I wish I could just FP the episodes in your head 😂

A cathedral in Austria was in desperate need of music for midnight mass for Christmas Eve in 1818. You see, their pipe organ was found wrecked by rodents, and couldn't be repaired in time. The lyrics were written by the local priest, Father Mohr, as a simple poem, a couple of years before, but it had never been set to music. He then gave it to Franz Gruber, the organist and choir director. A short time later, he had a melody that he could play on guitar, and it was played and sung that very night. Sometimes a quiet Christmas is best.
