In the real world, yes race plays effect. However for loans, most of the time it is because the average income is less for black people than for whites because of the jobs they picked. Sometimes it is because of race but most of the time it’s not. Also in THIS movie, definitely is not about race, which is why Nick probably didn’t like that part. If it shows that they are being discriminated against because of their race, fine. Like the white girl stylist, she actually was discriminated against, but when Latisha got fired that was just because she disobeyed her boss, not because she is black.

Even buying a house is affected by the color of one's skin, believe it or don't doesn't change the truth. Don't mean to sound rude but saying "its not about race" is very naive.
