One thing that I don’t think gets enough mention is the fact that Monica and Joey filled Mon’s appartment with dead or dying trees, to make Phoebe happy for Christmas. Monica, the obsessive clean freak, who probably gets stressed out each time a needle falls on the floor. It’s such a wonderful thing for her to do for Phoebe. Monica in general is on fire in these episodes. Telling Ross to get over himself, trust Rachel, and grow up, is great. Her sending the quartet to sing that song for Julio is legendary.

Absolutely spot on. Either Ross is right, and Mark is looking to hit on her, which if he does Rachel would absolutely tell him where to shove it. If he's wrong and he sabotages her chances at a real job with prospects for her, she'd resent him for that and end it. Either way, you don't own your partner, and you don't get to guilt or manipulate her into not taking your dream job.
