He was actually engaged to Jennifer Aniston at this point, but they had a bad breakup soon after, which made filming this storyline painful for both of them. From what I understand he was supposed to be on the show for longer, but was written out due to their real-life break-up.

2024-08-30 16:15:05 +0000 UTCI appreciate the way that this episode (especially at the time) handled the different perspectives on giving a baby to other people. The one thing that the character of Phoebe's birth mother failed to realize though is that being a surrogate is not at all the same as giving babies away for adoption. While the latter is very difficult for a number of reasons, the former is somewhat emotionally easier in the sense that a surrogate carrier knows from the start that the baby in their body isn't actually theirs.
