I think the 3rd movie is pretty good but I did hear from people who haven't read the books that they feel like they missed information and there is some information that you missed if you haven't read the books. The 4th movie I hear is liked a lot by the people who haven't read the books. But the people who have read the books generally don't think it's a good adaptation of the book. The tone in the movie feels very different to then the book. I won't spoil it in case you want to read the books. If you wanna have more in depth of the character then you could read or audio book the series. The book series is great and so full of character development, relationship, politics and details. I hope the new series is more in depth than the movies. But I still really like the movies.
