For me the most emotional disaster movie is Independance Day. I will say I honestly enjoy this one a LOT. And rewatch it frequently. I consider it a hidden gem. Edit: Though I guess Independance day is more of an Ailen movie? I think of it as a disaster movie, because of how much gets destroyed. And I'm still mad about Gordon. I kind of wanted him to hook up with the Tamara. I also hated what happened to her

2025-03-11 07:01:22 +0000 UTCDirector Roland Emmerich would be pleased that you've been liking his movies so muchπ Roland Emmerich directed Independence Day (quick side note, I feel like I should I be proud of the fact that the two alien movies you now say are your favorites are both ones that I've picked for you π) He also directed Day after Tomorrow and this movie 2012 Independence Day kind of put him on the map and made him an instant Superstar director in Hollywood. And for a while, with the success of Day After Tomorrow and 2012, he was kind of considered the king director of disaster movies. But a series of box office flops have since made him fall out of Hollywood favor, and none of the movies he's released in recent years have captured the success of his early work. (kind of the same thing happened to M Night Shyamalan) It's been nice not only seeing you get introduced to his early successes, but seeing you enjoy them so much.
