i have bought a medium format film camera Pentax 645!

It's a heavy, bulky camera that takes 15 frames from a single roll of film.

You'd think, why the hell do I need film, especially medium format, when I have a great digital camera?

That's what I thought at the beginning of the year!

But after hanging out with the photo club for a while, looking at other people's work, I realized that I was tired of taking a bunch of mediocre shots when I had all the capabilities to do better. I lack the experience to take well-balanced shots, I lack the discipline and skill to tell a story in a small number of frames. (the man on the 2d photo is Kuchma Oleksii, a film photographer, a photo club organisator and a person, who inspires me a lot, he was a middle man in my purchase

The other day, I tested this little thing, and every time I heard that delicious “click,” I had an orgasm and let out a “whoop” because the process of creating a frame feels so different.

I usually bring back between 300 and 950 shots from a shoot, depending on the dynamics and complexity of the lighting. I am guilty of shooting excessively; when I am unsure whether a shot is good, I take duplicates in the same setting from different angles, experiment in the process, and then select the strongest shots a few days later.

The day before yesterday, I had an hour and a half, and I barely managed to take 15 shots.

Iryna T. (the series is already waiting for you to see it!), my first model on medium foramat, put on her outfits, looked at herself in the mirror opposite, we directed the shot together, she struck an interesting pose, which we then tweaked to make it perfetto. I fiddled with the lighting, where I would stand in the frame, which lens to use.

So Ira put a tie around her neck, sat down on the sofa, and I said, “Look at me provocatively.” I clicked the shutter and realized that I had it, and I didn't need to take any more shots because I liked how it turned out the first time. And it was such a cool experience!

if you'd like to support my new approach to the photography, feel free to support me financially so i can buy and scan film rolls 💕

P.S. I feel i need to work on my hands urgently.

I really like the portrait, but this process takes a lot of time, including all the lab work, developing, etc. Do you use negative film or slide film? The main thing is that you have fun with it.
