Devlog About Luna and Data

Hey guys, since the next update will include updates for both Luna and Data, it's a good time to discuss where their stories are headed.

Talking About Luna

If you've read my other devlogs, you may have noticed that I mentioned the first stage of Luna's story is nearing its end. After that, I'll begin working on her second branch. However, there are a few things I wanted to explore with her before starting her new arc. This includes her relationships with Misty and Emily and having her try new experiences now that she is more confident and comfortable with herself. But i was unsure if prolonging the conclusion of her story was the right move.

That's why I've been conducting polls recently, asking about the pacing of each route and your thoughts on the secondary characters. And the responses were a pleasant surprise—most of you prefer to see more of the secondary characters and want to watch Luna's relationships develop, along with more slice-of-life moments. This has made me more confident in taking my time with her story. In her next quest, you'll see more slice-of-life elements, with plenty of small scenes where you can interact with Luna and her friends. It will feel like a 'last reunion' before her story reaches its conclusion.

Talking About Data

Data is the character who has changed the most, but interestingly, not his character but my intentions for him. He started as just a plot device, someone who would appear in every route whenever a problem was too big for the main character to handle alone.

However, I enjoyed writing his appearances throughout the game so much that I decided to make him one of the main characters and give him his own route. But since he wasn't planned since the start, I had to figure out how his route would develop as I wrote it.

I debated whether to focus more on his traumas and social anxiety or to explore his connection with the future, which is something unique to his route. What I'm aiming for now is to combine both aspects—addressing the main character's situation and Data's personal struggles. And yhis will be the focus of his new quest. Half of it will take place in his class, talking about the black book, while the other half will allow you to learn more about Data's past and his family.
