A sneak peak to a story idea. "A song of Ice and Metal"
Added 2024-08-19 03:50:52 +0000 UTC“We are the singers of the earth, the whispers of the wind through the leaves of the weirwood. We are the Children of the World. Of a great mother.
For millennia, we have watched as the world turned, as empires rose and fell, as men battled for power and glory. But through it all, we have guarded a secret, a gift from the gods brought down from the stars. A metal unlike any other, a metal that hums with the song of life and the promise of progress.
We saw promise in Bran the Builder, a man of vision who sought to unite his people and protect them from death and darkness. He unearthed the metal, a gift from the frozen earth and by the old gods. And with a gift from the trees, the sap from the trunk, he embraced the power. He became the first White Wolf, a warrior of legend, a protector of the North.
Together, we forged a bond, a pact between man and nature. Bran shared the metal's secrets with other houses of the North. The Mormonts, Karstarks, Manderlys, Umbers, Glovers, Reeds. And each contributed their unique perspectives and knowledge to unlock the metal they have called, vibranium, to it’s full potential.
Through generations of collaboration, innovation, and unwavering dedication to their people, the North flourished. They built a society unlike any other, a hidden haven of knowledge and progress. And to the rest of the world, the North was an unforgiving savage land filled with barbarian heathens.
The rest of the world stirs with whispers of war and greed. We, the children of the forest, have seen the darkness that lurks in the hearts of men, the lust for power that twists their souls. And so, we counseled the Starks to keep their gifts hidden, to nurture their strength in secret, to become a beacon of hope in a world shrouded in shadow.
For we knew that knowledge, like fire, can both warm and burn. In the wrong hands, the metal's power could corrupt, could destroy. But in the hands of the just, it could heal, could protect, could illuminate a path towards a brighter future.
So the North agreed to keep what they have a secret. For generations, not a single soul outside the snow covered landscape knew what the North had.
Until the Dragon King came.
Fire and blood met ice and metal.”

The title could use some work and I'm not sure if I captured the way the Children of the Forest speak just right or not, but it is a work in progress.
