Snip to chapter 9 of the Spider-Man in Gotham fic.

He was certain Gordon would not have chosen the couple over the child. He hates it when others are in love. The older man was a failure in love if Jervis’s research into the man's personal history was correct. It’s the only explanation of why he would have killed his dear sweet Alice.
Jervis pulls over into an alleyway and sits in silent contemplation.
He can still continue with this. He can’t pin the death of the newlyweds on the older man, but the child is another matter. It's not what he wanted, and he’s not sure he can make it work to prove his point.
Why oh why would Gordon let the child die? It is completely out of character for him!
Unless the child wasn’t in danger anymore. It is possible that a good samaritan went out of their way to save that child. Or more than likely a police officer, since Jervis doubts a random citizen of this macabre city would do a good deed. It would make more sense why James went for the couple.
And if he involved another officer, then James essentially has help now.
Jervis certainly can not have that. James has to play the game alone. So, Jervis will have to make sure the police are busy with other matters.
He picks up his phone and dials the same number he used to call the pay phone.
He will see this to the end. And he will see his vengeance come to fruition.

So, I know most thought this was abandoned, but it's not. I am still committed to seeing this story through. Hope you all look forward to it.
