This is a next part of a new format on our account. We plan to share some useful recommendations for artists from our art director. We are going to add more professional literature, useful links and materials to help you study in your artistic journey! Today's recommendation is Composition of Outdoor Painting Seventh Edition by Edgar Payne.
Payne outlines his philosophy of art and presents a clearly organized approach to the technique of composition, covering such issues as preliminary sketches, color as an element of composition, perspective, rhythm, and line. Color and black and white plates of Payne’s and other artists’ paintings and Payne’s ingenious thumbnail diagrams accompany the lessons. It’s an invaluable tool for understanding Payne’s own compositions and the motives behind them.
