Lupi does go by they/them. Scorch (big yellow) believes Lupi goes by she/her because those are the pronouns they believe the Sun goes by. I don't make it super clear why, but Hearth can tell that Lupi is not female. Maybe it's by smell? Or just appearance. But Scorch doesn't even consider it.

Also, something about Hearth's got me thinking they(?) somehow cheated their ceremony. They seem very uncertain when their ability to look into sun is mentioned, despite having passed the test... Come to think of it, even their answer regarding that in their Q&A seemed nervous and a bit panicked
