Supreme Court Briefs - Plessy v. Ferguson

You may have heard of this case.

One of the first videos I made for my channel was about Plessy v. Ferguson. You can watch it here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87yyfX0HnaU

I've come a long way since then production-wise. Also, that original video had errors, like showing a picture of someone that I said was Homer Plessy who actually wasn't. For this new video, I actually was in touch with Phoebe Ferguson, one of the descendants of John Ferguson from this case. She commented on my original video about that mistake! So hopefully she approves of the new video.

Thanks for your continued support!

I have got to stop feeding the trolls. On one hand I can't understand how people can think this way and it causes a little anxiety. On the other hand I hope someone who is leaning in that direction reads a reply. I worked for years collecting and processing ice data on the North and South poles. There are still close friends in my Facebook feed that think it is a conspiracy. Even though I was there... I don't know how to address it without being slightly insulted. You have to have some thick skin to post educational videos on YouTube. You could write a paper about it ;)

I just think some white supremacists snuck in there. It's troubling, to say the least.

Mr. Beat

Holy crap the comments... Did they stop teaching 7th grade Civics?

Matt Standish

Well thank you Gael. Yeah I was shocked when i found her on Facebook and she responded. She is a great resource!

Mr. Beat

Hi Mr. Beat! Looks like you went the extra mile in contacting Phoebe Ferguson. Should be the straight scoop for sure! Thanks for all your work on these videos! Much appreciated!

Gael Guerard

It doesn't affect it as much as it used to, but I definitely make most of my Supreme Court Briefs videos to be available to my students in real life. I teach American Government, so they come in handy!

Mr. Beat

I'm curious, how much does your professional curriculum affect what videos you make? Particularly Supreme Court Briefs. I would like to think you show these videos to your classes at the appropriate times.
