Mechamaru is actually a big otaku in the show, thats why he gave such silly and over the top names to his atacks and mechs, because he actually thinks they are super cool. And yes the animation in this episode is strongly inspired by Evangelion and Gurren Lagann, the latter especially in the final fight scene in the mech.

Also, anybody else think the author/creators took a bit of inspiration from Evangelion? I swear I was watching an Eva fight. So many similarities, from the music to the attacks and animations. Such a badass fight

It’s hilarious whenever you try and remember people’s names. Sounds like Inosuke whenever he calls for Tanjiro in Demon Slayer. Funnily enough, Robo bro’s VA is Inosuke.

Yeah this season has a big problem with ghosting and dimming, and will sadly show up in most fast paced fight scenes. Basically ghosting is when the previous frame bleeds into the next one, so if you pause the video during a ghosted scene you will see two frames simultaniously, this makes it very hard to follow fast paced scenes. And dimming is just that, the scene is dimmed so the scene looks dull and devoid of bright lights. These are both there because of a dumb law put in place because pikachu was too flashy and some kid apparently had a seizure, the bluray version of the show wont have said problems, the law only applies to the TV version.

Omar if you see sometimes a little blur or dimming when there is a lot going on, its because of japanese law. Some accident happend in the past with a Pokemon ep where there was a lot of flashiness and lights going on that a lot of kids had photosensitive epileptic seizures. But trust me if you see the blue ray version, it has no ghosting or dimming and you can see the animation clearly.

Shibuya time I'm so hyped for this!! edit: since you joked about the romance vs fighting trope animes do you think you'd ever react to one of those one off 12 episode romcom animes like HoriMiya? idk how they'd do for reactions in terms of your taste and audience, but it would be fun to see
