Quick questionnaire

E: Pricing changes have been made, don't bother replying to the form anymore!

Heyo, looking to re-evaluate whitelabel's pricing. This is because:

- I'm moving out and going to uni in 2 months, ideally it would be to not have to do any part-time work so that I can dedicate that time to Tickets
- Considering hiring additional developers to work on the bot (currently would not be able to pay a salary + cover my own living costs)
- Would like to throw more money at infrastructure for redundancy.

All existing patrons will continue to pay the current price, forever. Any pricing changes would only affect new patrons.

I'd appreciate it a bunch if some of you could fill out this very short questionnaire: https://forms.gle/ET8oquLozW9qnTWb9

Why are not the autoclose not working?

Here's my two cents on 7 dollars a month. Let's even up this example to 10/mo, just to crunch numbers easier. I have a server of 300, which is probably TINY compared to most who use whitelabel. That's less than 3 cents per user, if we're looking at it from a licensing perspective. That is still PHENOMENAL pricing, and I would pay that price tomorrow just for premium ( I dont even use Whitelabel ). Keep up the great work. Your hard work deserves it, and I feel you should be compensated more through wallet than a "pat on the back". . . .

I completely understand your concerns. I'll give you a semi-transparency report: The bot runs on under ~3GB RAM, total. The actual bot services themselves (so excluding database servers, etc.) run on about 500MB. This is a super, super, super low number for a bot approaching 100k servers, and is the result of probably hundreds of hours of work I've put in over the last 2 years or so, which I doubt I would have been able to put in if I had a part-time job as well. Everything is written from the ground up, not relying on any existing Discord libraries, and is all open-source: https://github.com/TicketsBot/tickets.rs https://github.com/rxdn/gdl I think you'll agree that the costs of operating would be significantly higher if this wasn't the case, I'd probably estimate a good 48GB of RAM if the bot still used JDA, like it did in 2018 and early 2019. Reliability is a key factor to the success of the bot, and as such, I've picked a high quality host: DigitalOcean. In 2 years, I've only experienced a single short 20 minute outage. You can view DigitalOcean's pricing chart here: https://www.digitalocean.com/pricing/ - running on 64GB would set me back going on $500pm. Obviously the actual number is a lot less than that now, as a result of constantly improving on the resource usage of the bot. However, even though DigitalOcean is pricey, I would never switch the bot to a provider like OVH or Hetzner, due to much more frequent outages, and even a datacentre burning down in OVH's case. However, it's not like I cheap out on servers either. At the moment, I think we're running with 3x extra capacity, to allow for the bursts in resource usage when starting the bot up, etc. I don't like to be greedy - if the survey had come back telling me that the price shouldn't move, then I 100% wouldn't have changed it. The vast majority of people responded by saying whitelabel was undervalued. I hope this has cleared some things up - I value your continued patronage. Cheers.

So one reason why I went for this bot over the competing ticket bot is that I didn't see it as money grab, like every other bot we see now adays. In a way it felt like supporting a new start up, competing with existing big bots, genuine and all. Pushing it to $7 a month would ruin that belief for me. Now I know this would only affect new patreon but the reason why I supported you in the first place wouldn't align to this change. I get life and Uni is expensive, but 7 dollars for one server use just for tickets (again probably just to keep you out of a real part time) isn't why we as consumer pay extra. If know the patreon cut can be brutal in terms of what you could be getting but at least offer a alternative or find a more direct payment to you. Or find more efficient hosting. Could you perhaps give us a transparency report? How much does it cost you to keep the bot running on the server? Like some bots that are in 10-20k server cost only 40/month, while others may costs hundreds a month. I know I am one user, one patreon out of 600 but there is my $4 dollars on it.

Then Let us know! :) I think we can handle that.

Not looking to hire yet, I will put out an announcement when ready. I'd probably be looking for a full-stack contractor who can maintain every part of the service

Hi! Just to let you know, I am the one that commented about the development help :) (I just notice that there is no email indentifier in the form, lol :D )
