Reactive Infantry Deployment
Added 2025-05-16 00:24:31 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
Reactive Infantry Deployment (RID) is an advanced scripting feature for DCS missions that brings the battlefield to life. Whenever a RedFor armored transport vehicle or support unit is hit, the script deploys a squad of RedFor infantry behind the damaged vehicle. These AI soldiers are not just scenery-they immediately receive orders to move, flank, or ambush, creating unpredictable and cinematic ground combat moments.
How does it work?
If any of these units take damage, and haven’t already triggered an infantry deployment, the script springs into action:
A group of RedFor infantry (RPGs, AKs, Iglas, etc.) is spawned just behind the damaged vehicle, facing the same direction.
The infantry group is given a randomized movement order, so they don’t just stand still-they move to engage, take cover, or set up an ambush.
Each vehicle can only trigger this once, ensuring the battlefield doesn’t get overwhelmed.
Why is this awesome?
Dynamic Ambushes: No more static, predictable defenses-now every vehicle hit could mean a surprise infantry counterattack.
Immersive Scenarios: Great for helicopter pilots, JTACs, and ground attack pilots who want to experience a living battlefield.
RID will be active on the servers in the next mission load. So less than 8 hours from now.
Thanks,
