Rugby's BIGGEST Hits!

Comments

It is a hard sport, but as a strong as a ox 19 year old prop forward, you did get a battering, shoulders neck and arms, but in the heat of the battle you don't feel it.. If you have not got some battle scars is a life less lived. I did the mini-rugby, school rugby, club rugby route, nothing special just a mobile prop who needed a B&H at half time... Post game was always the best, after wanting to rip the heads off the other team for the last few hours, both teams gather in the club house, with subsidised cheap beer, show off your war wounds and sing filthy rugby songs... "One red one, one white one..." I came away fairly unscathed. I guess it's very much the same all over the UK. To stop yourself getting hurt every time you tackle, there is an art to a tackle, not only from a tacklers point of view but from someone who is being tacked. The tackle is identical to a double leg takedown in MMA just with a longer run up..

As a fellow welshie all of the above is correct. It certainly is a religion here. We spend so much time with our son ( who is 14 and currently playing for his club and now the school too ) training and playing games its unreal. He trains between 2/3 times a week, plus in school p.e. and on top they also do after school clubs too. No idea where they get the energy. Most of these hits are now banned and would be a card offence these days. We feel your pain about where Welsh rugby is at the moment. I don't think there's a video out there that could even begin to explain our in built tribalism =D Things can only get better though right?.......right?

yes you can tackle a kicker in open play...but not from a penalty. However you can't tackle a catcher in the air...once he lands..that's a different story ...in Wales we start with mini rugby for the 5yr olds, through juniors until we get to Senior school at 11..then it's inter class until we get to about 14..then it's inter school at 15-16..then off to your local club for shits & giggles, unless you're any good, then it's county & national school boys. Very similar to New Zealand..it's a religion..unfortunately Welsh rugby today is a shadow of it's former self & going through massive upheaval at the moment..it's heart-breaking.

Lemmy's Mole

Brings back memories of playing rugby at school, always seemed to be in winter, always seem to hit that frozen ground hard ! There was at least two instances of emergency services being called out for injuries, but everyone survived πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

While an urban myth suggests that drunk drivers survive crashes more often because they are relaxed, scientific evidence and data demonstrate that the opposite is true:

β€œYou know when you’re drunk and get in a car accident it’s better for you because your body doesn’t tense up” Wild statement πŸ˜….. totally get what you mean and in context it does make sense, it’s still a crazy sounding statement though πŸ˜‚
